The Dark Elf warriors do look like they would make a better escort unit (which Im not sure I really need with that many harpies).
Does it make sense to drop the chariot and a corsair unit to fit in a ranked unit? I'm not certain I even need the SCR from a 20 block of warriors.

2250 Dark Elves, first in 7E
Hi all, Returning to dark elves in the near future (once I finish a truescale BT army). I was looking to make a very regimented looking force that takes advantage of our best looking models, which unfortunately means I'll have to avoid warriors. Currently the army has no Khainites either, as I wante...

Fantastic minis - I too had trouble decieding between number 1 and number 9. The banner work is fantastic, and clearly shows a lot of effort! The colors on the beastman are so smooth, the metals have a ton of depth, and the eyes seem alive! Unfortunately the face of the sister of sigmar is too plain...

My main concern is a blue/purple palette will not provide enough contrast. These models look good, but it does not have that sharp look that could be attained with the use of a warmer color in the mix. In a ranked unit they may become a purply blue mass, like the skaven player who paints his rats sn...

Experience vs New Highelves
It's been a while since the new High Elves have been out. Their tricks have lost their shock value and players are starting to adapt their tactics to deal with them. I think now is a good time to review their army book against a variety of other armies. Problem is, I have been on a Warmachine Hiatus...

Always err on the side of caution with rumormills; in this case I would not expect them to be released until Q4 08. Its probably a good idea to start now. You can get in some practice with an unforgiving list and get in an elfy state of mind. The other benefit is you get to become excited as the new...

If the game were to have a stable launch I would be interested in joining (which I think only WoW has managed as of yet, and even they greatly underestimated servers). A Witch elf character is probably the top of my list, but its hard to say with so little information released for Dark Elves - or hi...

Fluffwise they drank the witchbrew before the battle. RAW it's an item carried by the unit champion, and when the unit champion dies you lose the benefit. Witch elves are tricky though. You want them to be a cheap punchy unit, but they have troubles with anything armored. Thing is, a chariot causes ...

Best: Evolution, computers, farming. Worst: Religion, money, weapons. I hear people mention faith is good and religion is bad. Just so we're all on the same page, are you refering to 1 and 4 only? Otherwise I fail to see how they are seperated. 1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in a...

MC Eviserator, Inferno Pistol, Jump Pack, Cloak of St Aspira, Book of St Lucias (sp?). She runs around without a unit, tying up unkillable threats or just suicide bombing units that don't instantkill her (I think you can get the anti-instant kill item and stay in the points limit too). It looks real...

DE warriors may create more kills against shooting units with no armor, but against armored foes I know you will get better results from dedicated ranged units. Compare shooting results against average combat units (5+ save, 6+ at short range from GG) and factor in the maneuverability of the WE list...

I have to say that saying the DE army is not for beginners is plain wrong. People just getting into the hobby do not NEED an easy button to learn how to play, to have fun, or to paint. Beginners should expect to lose their first few games as all the aspects of the game come together. I also strongly...

From what I've seen of the new book, it is very discouraging time to start chaos. Many people have talked of throwing their armies in the closet for 8 years until they get a new book, or using a DIY chapter from the SM codex. It suffers from a massive restriction of heavy weapons, the dumbing down o...

I found Brets to be easier than Dark elves, for a number of reasons. One is the ease of protecting your wizards (which are unfortunately useless now). The other is that it is easier to avoid terrain than use terrain to your advantage. Lastly, you can win straight up combats, without support and even...

It is curious that they are making (what I can only assume) their raid bosses special characters from the Warhammer world. Still, I would have to question it if you got a powerful armor drop off of killing Teclis. Like Eldacar I have doubts on their ability to accurately represent his powers. He was...

I'd have to question your backup plan. I have played an all mechanized shooty force before, and even with enough firepower to reliably kill 25 marines a turn (averaging 30 if I can get all my shots), there are situations where I have failed to spot remove a chunk of his army and was engaged in close...

The rules system allows for it, so I find it hard to fault the player for min-maxing. In a recent miniature game of another system I had a model that couldnt be targetted with spells, so he used a flamer-type spell against a nearby model. Same effect: hit a model you couldn't target in the first pla...

In this edition? Hmmm lets see. I charged a unit of 24 orcs and killed all but one with my Bone giant, and Tomb guard unit. so... 23 wounds + 3 Ranks + 1 Outnumber (hehe) + 1 Banner - 3 for their ranks = 25. Not bad for a frontal charge. I remember that game very clearly, because my giant's sustaine...

Sportsmanship scores are ugly for a variety of reasons. Personal vendettas get worse, friends rank each other higher, and there is usually no standards applied to sports. I've seen someone get a 0 sports written on their card before the game even began, and while I think it is justified because that...

I've done it, but the pewter wasn't as flexible as I would have liked. If I were to redo it there would definately be some sawing don...
