Re: AoS Grand Alliance : Order, things I don't understand
Even Sigmarines are not goody two-shoes, they are known for torching entire towns because someone whispered something wrong. Good ole warhammer burnings. Currently Daughters of Khaine and Idoneth Deepkin are the strongest of Aelf factions simply due to the fact of having their own battletomes which ...

Re: Theories and Ideas we want for the Next Elf Release
I would expect some sort of mini-release for Daughters of Khaine (endless prayers?) and then the Hysh elven faction led by Tyrion and Teclis. I think the Tenebreal Shard and Mistweaver Saih are a good example of the next two major elf releases. One focusing on Shadow and one on Light, first led by M...

Re: 8th DE 2000 Balanced List
Point for point Lokhir is *terrible* possibly the worst character you can pick. All hero level special characters are pretty terrible compared to what you can build yourself for the same points. Your Bloodwrack Shrine unit, what are they meant to do? Very expensive for a sorceress guard, very weak f...

Re: AoS seems... interesting (also I'm back! ish?)
Yeah, I re-read that and noticed the difference. Also after re-reading rules for piling in and Sisters of Slaughter rule I came to a conclusion that they can indeed pile in without charging. The rules say any unit that has successfully charged (which puts it within 1/2" of an enemy model) *or* ...

Re: AoS seems... interesting (also I'm back! ish?)
Nobody plays 8th in my area anymore I tried 9th but I found the environment far too toxic and unstable to enjoy the game, plus completely arbitrary rules changes happening all the time for no reason other than "this was OP in 8th so we nerfed it" combined with ignoring input from people pl...

Heh, perhaps. I also put together my Raging Heroes kickstarter pledge, but after such a long time away from the hobby, I'm just getting back to it and putting things together is a first step. Haven't thought about painting anything yet.

Re: AoS seems... interesting (also I'm back! ish?)
Standing outside of 3" does not help because you can't pile in unless you charged in the same turn (which means being within 1/2" of the enemy or the charge fails) or happen to be less than 3" from enemy through other circumstances. This basically negates their pile in rule as you als...

AoS seems... interesting (also I'm back! ish?)
Hey guys! Long time no see. When I saw the new Morathi model I decided to find a group to play with and see what the whole AoS is about. I'm playing in a league where we started with 500 points and are adding 300 points every other week so by now we're up to 1400 points starting next week. This brin...

Re: Sumon spells
I believe the general idea behind the summoned units (and it is made clear by the rules for deployment of an army) is this: Every warscroll your own is your army at all times. You may place them on the board, you don't have to. But if you own the warscroll, you can use it. If that means summoning a ...

Aelf can't be IP protected, it's a regular word like elf, and it even means the same damn thing.

No idea about their quality... but they have vastly improved since last time I checked. I may be tempted to order a test mini (and they're cheaper than GW single miniatures )

Re: Square vs Round and weapon range
Exactly, the only actual rule is that no point of a miniature can move more than its M value. I read that as a difference between starting and ending point, because everything else makes less sense.
Or to be more cinematic. The spearman lifts his spear, spins on his heel and points it at the enemy.

Re: Square vs Round and weapon range
I'm not sure if I understand your explanation on the rotation but let me try an example in how I see it. Unit of spears facing away from the enemy with their spears sticking out 1" from the model get charged, enemy piles in and likely max two "ranks" get to fight due to 1" range ...

Yes, but you're already lined up in a formation, you don't actually move the models anywhere, just spin them around as their 3" pile in.

Re: Best Dark Elves Units in AoS
One big unit is better on the offensive, as you only need to activate them once to do all their attacks. Two smaller units are better on the defense though as you can position them one behind the other so that the enemy can only attack one, but to do so will have to enter within 3" of the secon...

Re: Square vs Round and weapon range
I was thinking more of a
Line of spears all showing their backs to the enemy (for longer charge distance) and in pile up, the all spin on the spot, turning spears forward.
All the advantages with no disadvantages.

Re: Un-Welcome to the Age of Sigmar
I think you're approaching it wrong Jvh792. Age of Sigmar got rid of all semblance of balance, perhaps on purpose, and I believe that if you want to enjoy it (if that is possible, I haven't been given a chance to try yet) you also have to forget about balance as you knew it from WFB. Simply put, you...

Re: Square vs Round and weapon range
You seem to have skipped over the fact that distances are measured from models themselves, including any weapons. This means a formation of spears with strategically positioned weapons can have as much as an extra inch of reach in one direction.

Re: First game of AoS, DE vs Warriors of Chaos
"Getting the charge" still has it's advantages, but it's not nearly the all-important factor that it used to be. I put my figures away a few years ago and never even bothered to give 8th ed. a try. Yeah, I wondered if that might be the case. Getting the charge in 8th edition was not parti...

Re: First game of AoS, DE vs Warriors of Chaos
From all the reports I've read so far it looks like AoS is an expensive card game with miniatures instead of cards. You build your "deck" based on synergies and then make them work in game. Difference being you start with all your "cards" available to you and don't need to count ...

Simple, 10 or more Warlocks with 5 combat characters in the front rank and a sorceress in the second rank. Super Expensive, Super Destructive on the charge and still has great spells to use.

Given (arbitrary) limit of 100 wounds, there was no room for cavalry. 2 wounds per model makes them very expensive in this regard. (and multi-wound models take bad battleshock roll terribly)

Need to make a correction, as Corsairs are apparently 10+. Drop 5 Darkshards to make 30 Corsairs and put them in 3 units of 10.

Re: My thoughts on Age of Sigmar
"it" is already refered to once in the rules (I didn't add that part, it's original), and thus does not require further explanation. For the purpose of the rule the first part of the second sentence defines "it" Flame template is 8.5" so the 6" reference as being simila...
