Yeah, when I've just been watching games, I've noticed that they tend to ignore a lot of rules to streamline the beginner battles. Although, to be fair, they are often teaching the swarm of 11-year olds with no attention span who frequent my store...

Question on challenges...

Hey guys, I was playing a beginner battle at my local GW (1000 pts DE vs Dwarfs), and I decided to issue a challenge with my master who was in a unit of spearmen who had charged against a thane in a unit of longbeards. After the challenge was over (my master won yay), I picked up dice to make my war...

Haha sorry about that. The basswood strips were only 50 cents per 2 foot strip, and available at my local craft store, but using leftover plastic sprues is a good way to get rid of them.

Hm well that does sound like an easier way, although unfortunately I'm not sure if I've got an iron shop near where I live. I ordered magnets from KJ Magnetics, and although I haven't tested them yet, they were recommended to me by Colonel. m It is pretty cool how inexpensive it is to do this though...

Custom movment tray tutorial

So after making some custom movement trays, I thought I'd share my work in case anyone else wanted to use or improve upon my technique. I made these trays for my growing 1000pt army, and they are designed as part of a magnetic basing system (with rare earth magnets in the mini bases). Disclaimer: I ...

That's the plan. The metal did warp slightly, but that was fixed using a heavy hammer. I filed the rough edges down with a metal file. So far it looks pretty promising... EDIT: for anyone who stumbles upon this thread later, I'll include the tutorial I just wrote up for the bases I ended up making: m

Well I went ahead and ordered some magnets from K&J, and today I went over to home depot. They had 18"x12" sheets of 22 gauge steel (about 0.8mm thick) so I picked up a couple of those, plus 5 minute epoxy to attach the basswood strips I already have. I suppose if this works out well I...

Magnetizing bases/movement trays. Where to buy?

Hey everyone, I recently decided that it would be a good idea to magnetize my models, and I'm interested in making some movement trays from scratch to help facilitate that process. I did some searching in the forums to see what was already there, and there seem to be two schools of thought. 1) Using...

Good ideas, and yeah I did forget to include musicians on those units (edited). I agree that I'd like more BG, but at the same time I really like using two units of DR w/ RXBs. What I ended up doing was switching the BG standard to a champion and giving him the RoH. I made points by dropping the COK...

Many people here would tell you the only acceptable way to run DRs is 5 strong, RXBs, and a mus. NO SHIELDS, as that removes their fast cavalry rules. The champion and standard don't really add anything to the unit - the standard is a bad idea because you don't want your sacrificial bait-and-flee un...

1000 pt all-comers

I've got about 500 pts of DE so far, and I'm hoping to get some advice on how to build my army to 1000 pts. Here's what I've got in mind: Master - 138 Heavy Armor, SDC Soulrender Pendant of Khaeleth Warriors (19) - 148 Shields, FC RXB Warriors (10) - 110 Shields Dark Riders (5) - 117 RXBs, Mus Dark ...

Is it possible to downsize this list from 2000 to 1000?

So I finished a 2000pt list that I'm pretty happy with, but I'm having a lot of trouble converting it to a 1000pt version. My main problems are: 1) Cauldron of blood is not really cost effective in smaller games, so I feel like I should drop it 2) Without Dreadlord, I'm more concerned about stupidit...

Perhaps add in some COKs or Execs for some hitting power? You could fit in two units of 5 naked COKs if you can find 5 points to drop, and that'd really help you take down the big nasties.

Corsairs vs Warriors

So I've been drafting copy after copy of my 2000pt all-comers list, and I haven't quite been able to decide whether to include 2 blocks of warriors or 2 blocks of corsairs. I really like the corsairs offensive ability, their shooting save, and the fact that they aren't used quite as often. However, ...

A 2k balanced list, deciding between shades or RXBs...

Hey guys, I've been toying around with this list for a while now, and I finally settled on something I like, except I'm not sure on one thing. Here it is: Dreadlord - 279 Cold One, Shield, SDC Armor of Eternal Servitude Hydra Blade Potion of Strength Master - 165 Heavy Armor, SDC, Shield Soulrender ...

I see... well I'll experiment a little and use either white or bleached bone as the highlight, any idea on what to mix it with to shade? Dark blue, dark grey, black? Painting with hawk turquoise

Hey guys I'm trying to paint "Alastria", the great sorceress mini from reaper, and I'm stumped on how to paint her "loincloth" using hawk turquoise. Mainly I just have no idea what shades and highlights to use, no obvious colors jump to mind. To be a little more specific, I'm try...

Anyone play EndWar yet?

They just released the demo for Tom Clancy's Endwar a few days ago on xbox 360. I think it's pretty good so far, anyone else played it?
