Forum: Druchii Tactics & Army Discussion   Topic: Corsair Army Fluff and Tactics in new dex

I've seen somewhere in D.net that the 2nd RhB is an option for ALL corsairs, not only the champ. Cost 3pts. That leaves a line of shooty corsairs as an interesting alternative to investigate. About the basic ones, I expect that the new Lokhir Fellheart will make an interesting combo with some standa...

5 wide is more maneuverable. In a 10 unit, either you keep 5 wide and have an additional rank (until one is shooted down), or you go 7-wide and get 2 more attacks against 5 infantry opposite to you, which may help your ACR... and lessen the fight back from the enemy! Against wider base such as caval...

Comparison between corsairs and ordinary DE need to take into account that with hatred, corsair re-roll two attacks when most other units reroll only 1. So the pts evaluation of hatred should be higher. This explains the apparent high cost of corsairs: they benefit more than other units from hatred....

You're right:
both are arcane. :?
We really need to have the book in hand before any sound tactics can be thought about.

@dggrj - thanks for the answers. Clarifications below: "2 CoC"? - No, only 1. It takes up a single special slot, or possibly none at all if a Master can have it as special-free mount (still unsure). I considered it a good idea to take a CoC for a noble, hence providing a better Ld to overc...

Sure! If the opponent has little shooting, that's OK. You could even mount the sorc on a DS and jump from this unit to a similar one in vicinity, in case it was threaten. Against heavy shooting, I would add a shield, or consider to take corsairs instead. Another option is to hide the cheap unit behi...

I saw somewhere: Master” The Beastmaster is gone. No longer there as either a character or an upgrade. Instead the new "Master" is the new generic Hero with more upgrades than you can shake a stick at. So I understand that you can take a Master as simple (and cheap) as possible with the Ma...

in the thread: Word from someone with the new book they say its a unit like present day assassin for the stats, Neither Core, nor Hero so does not count against any slot. 90pts, always hidden in unit (pretty much any DE infantry). Has poisoned attacks, 75pts allowed from Gifts of Khaine, Additional ...

I just noticed that the UK websites has updated their range of DE models. Now harpies are listed as core. Most new minis appear with "preorder". Assassins, new sorc, new CO-mounted heroes, new corsairs are there. http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=List_Models&code=22&a...

About the question of which specials to choose, many of you answered, revealing yourselves probably as long-time gamers who own already the whole range of minis and look for the most competitive army. My perspective is a more modest one, but may be shared by many. Although I am playing only non-comp...

Luckily, as I play usually against shooty opponents, corsairs are good to resist that.
I love the fluff of corsairs. Let's see what special ability is brought by the new octopus Master.

I always loose against my son's dwarven army. He plays as many cannons and catapults as he can. Rest of the army is half heavily armoured, half shooting with crossbows and handuns. When played over 2000, I know he will play his Anvil of Doom loaded with all the runes he can to make it practically im...

Should be legal for official tournaments as well, as GW allows all conversions using GW parts, and the demonettes heads will not alter the WYSIWYG character of the converted hydra.

@getwisteerd The step was a big mistake of mine. I averaged instead of summing up, so the result was divided by 3 or 4. Thanks to you, I edited the initial post, which should be accurate now... and much more interesting with a huge increase in the expectations! The conclusions stay the same. The mor...

@ hyetemplar Let's take 3 level-2 sorc, that have 8 die together. Without PoD, they cast 24 2-die spells in a game (assuming they survived...), each with 1/36 chance of miscast. Less than once a game. With 3 2-die PoD cast each turn, they gain 14 more die in the full game... Assuming all of these ad...

Many dies are needed for WH and WH40K. A combination of different colours are very useful, as often some of the rolls need to reach different values: red dies for the knights, white dies for the cold ones ; or black dies for one attack per each knight, three brown dies for the Lord. Very small dies ...
