If you do use spearmen offensively, be sure to not use the spears. The hand weapon and shield will give a great save and should buy the time you need to get a flanker in there. If you do get charged, use the spears though.

Why would they be lead by a sorceress? As for core troops, RXBmen would be good. If you use the cauldron you need to create a defensive army (hard with ultra offensive witches with no armour). Nice strings of RXBmen all across the board with RBTs on hills and maybe a hydra in there would be grand.
