Used with spear elves, corsairs or COK (i prefer COK +1CR without having to field 8 COKs)

This is a must take - but spear elves can't have a magic banner . . . :(

Executioners and Black Guard have both improved over their 5th ed. versions. In 5th ed., Executioners had strength 4 and did d3 wounds, but always struck last even when charging, were more expensive, and didn't have killing blow. Black Guard were not stubborn and were therefore far too expensive for...

If you are using the standard Hydra model, it fits best on a chariot base (they just started making them for the Tomb Kings and they are 50x100mm). A chariot base can actually be good because it makes it easier for the handlers to hide from missile fire. On the other hand, it means more models can a...

No. You can only charge something that is revealed by the flee reaction of the first unit. This was clarified in an article by Gav. Don't recall if it got into the annual yet but I think it did. Yes, you can redirect if the chraged unit involuntarily flees do to fear/terror. The rules do not disting...

I agree with Vorchild. Dark Magic is more offensive in nature. Use dominion if you want to stop magic from being cast. The one frustrating thing about using Dominion is having to choose whether to deny moving, shooting or magic. If an enemey wizard is in a unit and you use Dominion to keep enemy wi...

More Hydra Conversion Ideas . . .

Option 1 - I contributed to the thread on the Shaggoth conversion idea, and thought of doing it myself. Then I checked the price of the bits and found that the Shaggoth pieces alone would run $37.00 . . . this doesn't include the actual hydra bits! Option 2 - I've seen pics of a conversion based on ...

The key to beating the brettonians is that you can keep his lances from charging by using fast cavalry and characters on flying mounts to sit in the "blind spots" of the lance formation. Knights can only charge based on the line of sight of the front model. Chose the one or two most dangerous lookin...

You're right - nobody has responded to your question. The models are fairly close in scale, and the conversion should work. I think what you'll need to make a decision, though. The first option would be to cut the Shaggoth in half at the waist, taking away all the humanoid part of him. You would the...

I disagree, Dyvim. A unit of spears charging them (10" vs. 8") will rout them more convincingly. Save the shooting for the dire wolves. -Ash There is some truth to your suggestion. Since ghouls are skirmishers, a unit of ranked infantry should do them in via ranks, standard and outnumbering. I stil...

I have not played the Dark Elves in Warmaster, but I have played the game with my Empire Army. The main thing to know about Warmaster is that it is really a cavalry-dominated game, more so even that Warhammer Fantasy. You should try to get some cold one knights. Also, just looking at the special rul...

Since he has a lot of ghouls, I would consider taking more missile fire. Although they skirmish and are toughness 4 (if I recall correctly), they have no armor, are low leadership, and are Alive! so they take panic checks. Missile fire can also decimate fell bats and dire wolves. Although they won't...

No offense man, but unless you use MSU, it's a little difficult to get 3 units to jump one. I disagree. That's what Dark Riders are for. Use fast cavalry to take away ranks by charging in the side or the rear, and hit the front of the unit with ranked infantry. Two problems I see with MSU are: (1) ...

If you haven't already done it for your first one, the hag taht comes with the Cauldron of Blood is good as-is or to use as a base for conversions.

The Banner adds +1 CR to each combat within its range, correct? I think it could be even better that that. Do you have any info on what your opponent likes to put in his armies? I you think he might be going with a fair number of marauders, keep the repeater crossbows. On the other hand, if he likes to go with a lot of warriors, dump the repeater crossbows from the dark riders. They'll just bounce off th...

I completely agree with you Dyvim. But I have to say, I've seen some amazing figures done with nothing but inks (the most memorable being a Nurgle Greater Daemon). For most models, a combination of painting, inking, and drybushing produces the best results, but it doesn't hurt to experiment with di...

They don't regroup automatically (you have to test normally), but other than that, I believe that they can move normally (including charging). They cannot charge since in the turn sequence you have to declare chargers before you attempt to rally your fleeing troops. Fast cavalry that rally can move...

This should probably be an Arcane Item like most spellcasting items are. Might need a note in the description that the weare cannot also have the Crown of Black Iron then. It is an interesting concept. Seems that 50-60 points would be appropriate.
