Re: Ward saves on your level 4?

I do not.

I keep her in a unit that gives look-out-sir and so ranged threats are minimal.

If her unit is in combat, she is probably screwed anyway and a ward won't help.

As a result, the points to get a ward save are generally better spent elsewhere.

Re: Buckeye Battles -- The Druchii List of the Winner

I would love to know how he played the 190pts Sisters. Did he use them in front of his line or did he hold them back until they were needed? I assume against an army like woodis or dwarfs they are lost early but if you fight warriors or deamons they might be a big support for the rest of the army. ...

Re: Buckeye Battles -- The Druchii List of the Winner

Yes. Taking a magic weapon does away with poison. No. If a model has a magic weapon, it must be used. Obsidian Blade is expensive and the model does lose poison, but if there is one model in the army that can make good use of the item, it's a Cauldron Hag. She will be striking first and re-rolling t...

Re: Buckeye Battles -- The Druchii List of the Winner

Jake had a very close game against one of my club mates (Ryan Capps) that plays Empire. He charged his Cauldron out of the Witches into a Steam Tank and also hit it in the flank with his knights. He needed to kill the Tank in one round -- if he didn't, the flank of the Knights was open to be charged...

Re: Buckeye Battles -- The Druchii List of the Winner

He has RBTs and 3 units of Dark Riders to clear enemy chaff.

I believe that Metal is all about Enchanted Blades. It helps the Execs hit since they don't get rerolls, and it's good on RBTs. Searing Doom can find a target against most opponents.

Re: Buckeye Battles -- The Druchii List of the Winner

Cold ones had BSB with them so no need for the Pennant.

Most radical thing he did is he put the Level 4 with no ward into a combat unit -- either sisters or execs. But if charging a narrower unit you can keep her from harm .

Buckeye Battles -- The Druchii List of the Winner

Here's the list used by Jake Murphy, who not only won the Overall but killed it on Battle Points with 112 -- next highest was 104. L4 Metal - Dispel Scroll Master BSB - Cold One, Other Trickster's Shard, Luckstone, 1+ AS, Lance Death Hag - Cauldron of Blood, Rune of Khaine, Obsidian Blade 28 Witch E...

I do think that having some knights would really fit the theme, and am not a great fan of Kouran.

Buckeye Battles Recap

Went to Buckeye Battles in Ohio last weekend and used Lizards instead of Dark Elves mostly because of paint issues (I didn't have to paint as much stuff with Lizards to field the army I wanted). Had a great time and finished well with a 4-1-0 record. The tournament using Swedish Comp for match-up pu...

Re: Druchii.net at Buckeye

I played Lizards because I don't have all the Dark Elf stuff painted that I would want to use. Ended up getting 2nd in the best painted category with them so it was the right choice I think. Ended up going 4-1-0 with a very soft list -- I can win with it, but it's not good at pulling off the massive...

Re: Druchii.net at Buckeye

I'm using a very soft Lizard army. I have the display board with the pyramid. Won first two games against Wood Elves and Ogres. Lost game 3 to a Tomb Kings army I would have smoked with Dark Elves. My first game I was right next to Dalamar.

Spot on. That made me laugh.

Amazing paint job, but the banner does look oddly out of place.

Re: 2014 ETC DE lists - opinions/analysis.

Yes anecdotal evidence is fun and it does not always work out. Similar situation against a VC player, caster on Peg with Purple Sun. I fly her into position and cast Purple Sun first turn irresistible and roll misfire so no kills. Second turn try to cast and fail. Third turn, irresistible, misfire a...

Re: 2014 ETC DE lists - opinions/analysis.

I had a game against a Nurgle Daemon army in which I had a Death Sorceress on a Dark Peg and she got Purple Sun as one of her spell. My opponent got first turn, and advanced his units. I flew my Sorceress into a flanking position and got a 6-die big Purple Sun with irresistible force and a 6 or 8 ro...

Re: 2014 ETC DE lists - opinions/analysis.

I've never heard of a nurgle demon army or chaos dwarfs having trouble with purple sun. They have their own equally powerful magic. I've nuked Nurgle Daemons with Purple Sun--not Papa Nurgle who has a surprisingly high Initiative, Beasts of Nurgle, Drones, and blocks of Paguebearers are all tasty t...

Re: 2014 ETC DE lists - opinions/analysis.

In order to mitigate the effect of such spells, you can spread your points around a bit more. The big spells in the main rule book seem a purposeful attempt to discourage death star builds.

Re: 2014 ETC DE lists - opinions/analysis.

I suspect the a big reason for the 4x Pegasus lists is because it is hard to lose really badly with them. There are a lot of mobile units that can be really hard to kill, allowing the players to preserve points. It is important in the ETC format to have a list that the team can throw out that has a ...

Re: Druchii monstrous ranks

Interesting but I don't see much utility. A unit of Monstrous Cavalry will put out enough attacks that the Medusa can end up getting killed, in which case you no longer have a complete rank. I suppose that if you are careful, you may be able to ensure only one enemy model can attack the Medusa to mi...

Re: BSB and the Gleaming Pennant

Let's answer it another way. The Gleaming Pennant only allows a unit to reroll its first failed test. If it already failed a leadership test then the second failed test is not the first. The fact that the first failed test may have been rerolled (regardless of the "source" of the reroll) d...

It's not a monster but it is a chariot, and a chariot mount is not removed when a character riding it dies. (Rule book p 104) Fight against crew WS (not Hag's) and the Cauldron's T. (Rule book pp. 86, 104 & 105) Cauldron in a unit generally will not be hit by regular shooting unless the Dark Elf...
