I would avoid having flaming attacks on him, face one high elf general and you cant even harm him. Not fun.

By RAW yes it can be spiked, however anyone doing this needs to be physically hurt.

Personally I don't see why there is a lot of confusion about how many ranks it fills. The BRB says that if a mounted character takes up more than one model's worth of space that it fills the rank behind it. Same goes for mounted on a steed, Slanns, etc... it doesnt actually, so feel free to provide...

In the original fluff the marines didnt even have the arms inside the "arm" of the terminator suit but had them cross their chest. So therefor it didnt matter, and GW has just kept doing them this way.

Asking someone to pick an army for you is really silly, only you know what armies you like and what you can see yourself playing. Doesnt matter what others like, I absolutely hate dwarves but that doesnt mean someone else wont love them.
