New Tzeentchy Beastmen models in 40K kit

Post by Daeron »

Hey,

This may have been missed by some, as they didn't clearly announce it. But the new Tzaangors kit for 40K comes with the bits required for a more fantasy outfit.

This should make them match the beastmen from the Silver Tower box. It seems these might get the demon treatment between the fantasy and 40K realm.

offtopic: i got a bit into the 40k fluff online (arch warhammer is a good one). But i want to read a bit more about it. I Am really curious about the horus heresy, but BL has like 40 titles on it. can you guys suggest some books?

I'd suggest not getting any of the books initially. There are just too many, and lots of them are... not terribly well-written. Also, the HH books IMO turn too much of what should have remained forever ambiguous into rigidly-defined lore. It's not always good to get all your questions answered.

For example, it always used to be left carefully ambiguous whether the Emperor really was a wise and ultimately 'good' (as far as anyone is good in 40K) magical super-buddha, or just a ruthless, xenophobic, psychopathic tyrant. So you could play Chaos Marines as justified rebels against the true evil of the False God on the Golden Throne, or goody-two-shoes Salamanders/Space Wolves/Ultramarines as humble servants of a genuinely benevolent God-Emperor in an Imperium that had fallen far from His original plan. The HH novel 'Master of Mankind' unfortunately settles that question once and for all.

The best source for 40K (and 30K, i.e. the Horus Heresy) fluff is Lexicanum. Once you have picked up the basics, then you can try reading some of the books on those areas of the lore you're most interested in.

As far as Black Library authors go, Aaron Dembski-Bowden (even though I think he never should have written 'Master of Mankind'), Josh Reynolds and Sandy Mitchell are probably the best, so choose books by them in preference to, for example, C.S. Goto.
