World music comes close enough. Mornedhel, I suggest you rename that poll option "World/Folk".

I can find myself in your list, Durloth, but for Isengard, which is plain overrated noise, and Old Man's Child, which is as bland as it gets. I'd add Dodheimsgard, In the Woods... and Aborym to that list.

By the way, what's your favourite Darkthrone album?

Hmmm, I better tell what I dislike, that will save http://www.druchii.net/viewforum.php?f=22me a lot of typing.
I dislike:
R&B in every from.
Religiouse "musick" (No typo)
Mainstream shiz.
Jazz (I get extreemly nevous with that experimantal thing ...)
Happy Classic. (The bombastic I do like).
The rest I can digg ...

My favourite atm is Crossbreed, The Haunted, Genocide SS, DRI (Rediscover),
Hatebreed, Insane Clown Posse, Iggy pop, ofc. ooh, an I allmost forgot Frank Zappa!
AND recently I have seen Bogo Bordello at Lowlands.
That is a Ucranian band and a close mix between
Drip Cock Murphy's and Mano Negra. Not bad. Makes me really happy.
Yeah, I guess I am in a music frenzy all my life.
Kind of a religion perhaps?
You’re a wreck, an accident.
Forget the freak, your just nature.
Keep the gun oiled, and the temple cleaned shiz
snort, and blaspheme, let the heads cool, and the
engine run. Because in the end, everything we do,
is just everything we’ve done.

@ Morn: Thanks for clarifying my intentions. It may not have been the best of comparisions, nor in very good taste but I found his statement completely uncalled for. Even though I have to admit that I too like DCD over Burzum.

@Damn: I think the `folkier` parts of Isengard is the best stuff Fenriz have ever been involved in. Right now I`m mostly listening to Panzerfaust, but it varies.
There are other bands I could have mentioned, but I tried to get my absolute favourites and some of the most famous ones.

Dear god i accidently created a sticky thread! :o . God i havcn't been here in awhile, if a few months count.
Back on track, Right now i'm heavily into metal/rock. Modern stuff like queens of the stone age and a few 'classic metal' like iron maidern (i'm really not sure wether you can classify them metal... or even classic for that matter. Nether the less)
As time past on, the feeling of fun
passed away like wind on a mountain...

I like about every music there is, but my favourite artists are:

Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell, Heather Nova, Coldplay, An Pièrle, K's Choice, Peaches, dEUS, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Radiohead, Hooverphonic, Peter Gabriel, Björk, Sinead O' Connor, Eric Clapton, Norah Jones, John Mayer, Soulwax, Kate Bush, The Cure, Franz Ferdinand, Novastar, and Stash ('I need a woman').

As you see I really like the work of singer/songwriters. Some may describe it as emo-sh*t, but I'm not going into that. When I party, I like electronic music like Soulwax or Trance music. And when your driving in your car I usually listen to 'My favourite game' by the Cardigans.

But actually I like most music and all genres :).

Urgh, I'm not on the list...

Not a fan of metal, or R&B, well, not most R&B, I can appreciate good music though.

I'm not very good at explaining genre's, so I'll go through bands I like:

Rattatat
MSTRKRFT
DJ Shadow
Crystal Method
The Arcade Fire
Architecture in Helsinki
Bright Eyes
Daft Punk
Death Cab for Cutie
Deerhoof
Fatboy Slim
The Chemical Brothers
The Fiery Furnaces
The Kills
Modest Mouse
Mogwai (Best. Live. Band. Ever.)
The New Pornographers
Sleater-Kenny
The Yeah Yeah Yeah's

Fairly broad...

EDIT: Oh, and if anyone shares many of the same bands I'll be quite suprised... except of course for the mainstream ones. Everyone should try hear some Rattatat though... and Mogwai!

Then be surprised, because I really like some of the bends you mentioned, including DJ Shadow, The Arcade Fire, Chemical Brothers, Death Cab (which are decent), Modest Mouse (which are awesome)...and Mogwai (which have some awesome and some so-so albums). Actually, except Architecture in Helsinki, which disappointed me a lot, I like every bend from your list :D .

Awesome, KidA!

I had my Architecture phase, but I've got to support them because they're one of the first decent Australian bands that I'm actually proud to say are Australian... that does not happen often!

At the moment I am totally hooked on Ratatat, I actually saw them live last week, which was fun. Do you have a favourite song?

And as for Mogwai, I love the album Mr. Beast... I saw them in July this year and they are ****ing amazing! It was at a festival, but even then, they still blew the house away... literally in fact (they blew all the speakers on that stage, delaying the next band [Augie March] for 45mins).

Death Cab have some good songs, and some mediocre songs, Modest Mouse rock, and I've been meaning to buy a ticket for a while now (they're in Australia early next year).

I'd be interested to hear anything you'd recommend :)

I don't think I could mention anything to you that you aren't already aware of, but lately I've been listening to The Thermals, old Shins, Godspeed You! Black Empreror and such...

I'm gonna go on the Muse concert in about 2 weeks (in Vienna)....

Oh, have you heard the new Mogwai record?

New Rave, New Wave, Indie, Rock 'n Roll, Nu-Gothic, Ska, Punk, Electro - that sort of thing. I'm really into emerging British stuff. British music is really good at the moment, there is so much outstandingly good music about. So much Genre bleeding work that gets you moving all over again.

Some example bands:
Late at the Pier, The Horrors, Metronomy, I was a Cub Scout, Ladyfuzz, Sunshine Underground, the Pistolas, CSS (okay not British), Dandi Wind (Also Not British), Joey Driscoll, High Contrast (okay thats Drum 'n Bass), Lost Penguin, Myriad Creatures etc...

Thats aside the usual oldies. Pink Floyd, the Prodigy, Led Zep, the Animals, Marvin Gay, Jimi Cliff, Sam Cooke et al.

So yeah, that would be my music persuasion.

P.S. Dancing Pigeon: Like alot of that. Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Death Cab in particular. If you like that sort of thing look for "Mommy and Daddy". They are an NY based Duo. Myspace 'em and listen to Confection if you like that you'll like it all. I think they are amazing, and may well be right up your street. You might Also Like Myriad Creatures. Myspace them, you never know. A London Three Piece. Only small tme at the moment but they let you download their stuff for free and are great guys to meet.
Pleased to be back

I' might have posted in here i might not so....

I actually like a bit of everything, even shock horror... Rap and RnB, Hip Hop whatnot. Though decent stuff not the crap you get in the charts though im not mad.

Well lastnight or This morning depending on what you want to call it I saw RBN and Rotersand, RBN are a bland interchangable EBM/Synth/Futurepop group made from Dj's and music engineers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotersand however were bloody good. They were on for about 1h.15/1h.30 Crowd were obviously pleased they were on and that the previous lot er.... finished.
An great Rotersand track would be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOqn8FxuyFs
Mal: Sure. It would be humiliating. Having to lie there while the better man refuses to spill your blood. Mercy is the mark of a great man. (lightly stabs Atherton with the sword) Guess I'm just a good man. (stabs him again) Well, I'm all right.

ok i answered this a while ago but my musical taste has changed quite a bit, or suppose i have just aquired more music into my taste.

top five would be: Led Zeppelin
Dream Theater
Red Hot Chili Peppers (the stuff BEFORE stadium arcadium, mostly by the way and californication)
Nirvana
Frank Zappa
Guns N' Roses

only one other person has listen frank zappa here! i highly suggest everyone else check him out, i like apostrophe (') and over-nite sensation.

dream theater? that was another i think very few people listed. they are very progressive metal... if that makes sense.

i also like genesis, blue oyster cult, black sabbath, mahavishnu orchestra, queen, zz top, ozzy osbourne, AC/DC, pink floyd, roy buchanan, beck, and cake.
