Dial-up vs Broadband

Post by Rork »

Well, in the wake of the posting pictures thread in the suggestions forum, I'm interest to see what sort of proportion of people use broadband/dial-up.

I think we should consider those on dial-up, so I'm just asking out of interest (The info might come in use later ;) ).

Surely no-one uses dial-up anymore? I mean I'm skint these days but I still shell out for it.

Content with my DSL. Wouldn't wanna go back to ISDN speed and never had the pleasure of using a 56k modem.

I'm on Dial-up :( . ADSL is really freaking expensive in South Africa. A recent study showed us to pay 100% to 200% more than the USA or UK

I'm quite happy with my T1 connection, so it's the latter for me.

Cable, although restricted in the amount to download/upload.

Other than the connection problems of the modem bank, I never really found dial-up much of a problem, and that was with a messy 28.8Kbps modem that kind of always crashed to 14.4Kbps.

Then again, I'm old, and have never truly been much of a surfer like that. ;)

Broadband here, loving every minute of it. Guess there's still plenty more people left to tell us what they've got though.

Cable ftw! I would never be able to go back to dial-up... it hurts my head waiting for pages to load.

I use Cable and as soon as my other computer is up and running I will have a network of about 4 computers running in my home...thats gangsta. Anywho Dialup sucks I had dial up for like a bunch of years and it took forever to load up websites download things and what not. For the money the best deals are your beyond dial up. I like cable because it is only a small addon to the cable bill which makes it cheaper than maintaining a second phone line.

I believe Broadband, but it's certainly pretty fast, and it doesn't make the irritating agonising noises that dial up can make. :P

Broadband. Its pretty affordable nowadays and far superior to Dial-up even in its most basic form.

I'm torn over the images subject though...

Currently using Broadband (DSL). Using Dial-up makes my teeth grind... but then again I am an IT Profesional and I do a fair amount of repair work for family and friends -- and the occasional side job. :)

As for the images... I don't care too much one way or the other, but we should be considerate for those people who do not have a high-speed connection. No need to make those without feel like they do not count for anything.
