Not a fan of facebook. My girlfriend set it up for me so people can keep in contact with my info. Shes the one that updates it half the time. So D.net is definetly the winner as I check it every weekday when I get to work. :)

Well I'm not really addicted to anything online all, except a fortunately brief stint with Warcrack. But I certainly enjoy D.net more then facebook, which is what I meant. I am able to access the forum at work though so I do it here so I can keep my time free for the rest of the day. I actually rarely spend time online away from work.

D.NET D.NET D.NET NO CONTEST

Facebook gets old fast, you have to wait for one of thousands of friends to message back / play next turn of your game. Here theres many more people who check much more often!

I only use facebook to kepp in contact with my friends (mostly cause I moved away for university) But I like the interaction of D.net, there are conversations I can have with you guys that I can't on facebook. Although facebook is the second website I go to when I turn on the comp. (here being the first).

also, I used to be on ogrestronghold, but it seems to "new", especially with the people on it, and the forums are a lot more dead than they are here.

Also, I have a (small) warhammer group on facebook. Mostly just a couple friends (theres about 10 of us).

To everyone that said it: No one asked you if you were addicted to either, just which one was MORE addictive. Sheesh.

If you only spend 1 hour a week on the computer, which site are u on the most? Facebook? or D.Net? then you will have your answer, and please, stop trying to sound less geeky when you play warhammer for a hobby.

I don't touch social networking sites.

So the decision is easy ;).

social networking means to "link up" with people. You are usually on one network, (eg. Calgary, Canada) and people you network with are from another (eg. University of Lethbridge).
It's hard to explain, a forum is a social... forum. I don't know how to explain this well.

Wikipedia (I know...) defines it as "A social network service focuses on the building and verifying of online social networks for communities of people who share interests and activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others, and which necessitates the use of software."

A forum is, in a sense, a social network, but lacks the more in-depth and general nature of 'proper' social networking (generally because individual have their own areas and create their own interest groups).

I have druchii.net always open on one tab, and facebook on another, so what does that make me? And the everquest 2 forums. And Bolter and Chainsword.

Oh, and Hi. Long time stalk*er* lurker, infrequent poster.

*Nagsi agrees with Rork*

I've never had one of those social/personal info thingies. There are plenty of them, and I've avoided them faithfully. And then I heard Microsoft bought their foot into facebook, and I was suddenly very happy I've stayed away :)

Unfortunately, D.net isn't very addictive for me either. mainly because it fails to send me my notifications. About once a week I go "oh, I don't recall being on D.net for quite a while" and go to find a few barely interesting threads (no offense to anyone here). I feel a bit like Loki - Real life has things far more addictive.

obviously real life has more sway over us than anything online, but i would say Druchii.net, mainly because if i want to talk to someone i know then i use my mouth or the magical talking box. Facebook, and it's poor predecessor myspace, are both incredable wastes of time, at least when i waste my time here i gain something, even if it is minute in the grand scheme of things...
