What do you need 3 collector's editions for? I can kinda understand two, one to play and one to keep in mint condition, though its not something I'd ever do.

I'd certainly consider joining a D.Net guild, even if it was with an alt.

I think my main will be forming a guild with some close friends and my wife as you only need the 6 folks to form the guild and all instances seem to be no larger than 6 man, so even if we are just 8 or 9, we'll be able to see all the dungeons, which will be a huge change from WoW. To quote Nymn, 'Never seen Kael'thas or SSC, Illidin the Betrayers too leet for me' :) So aye, really looking forward to the fact we will be able to see all the big bosses in this one without 25 man rading groups.

However back to a D.Net guild, I think the more important question is what realm type would folks be looking for.. PvP or PvE (can't remember the WaR names think one is Open RvR the eq of PvP.) As this would be a deciding factor in a quite a few folks on whether they'd join the guild or not.
WaR is Coming!

Anyway, should be a fun game.

Ozzies have their own regional server, or they can connect to the North American ones as they are on the North American client, their own choice. The servers are hosted on Mainland Australia and will serve both New Zealand and of course Australia. You can read the offcial post here:
http://herald.warhammeronline.com/warhe ... war?id=135

WAR seem to be the most solo friendly large scale MMO I've encountered. You can fight alone of with a small group of friends and still have mostly the same opportunities as a large guild.

As for server types:
Core RvR - Standard server type. Everyone is flagged for PvP in RvR zones, but PvP in PvE zones is consentual. This is a good pick for a server for most players.

RP - Like Core RvR, but with certain rules in place to enforce an RP environment. This server is for roleplayers primarily, of course.

Open RvR - Like core RvR, except players are flagged for PvP in the PvE areas as well. This server is for people who like a sense of danger even while doing PvE, or players who want to ambush other players that are doing PvE. There's no RvR objectives or anything contributing to the war effort in the PvE zones, so this server is purely for those who want that little bit of extra freedom. Recently there's been some rumours that this server type has been dropped. Nothing confirmed as far as I can tell, though.

Looks to be a great game and I'll certainly be there from day one.

Hmm... when I put "warhammer age of reckoning" into the search on Amazon.co.uk the first item I get is the latest World of Warcraft expansion...

The big instances of the game will be 40 man. Basically, once a city is sacked, the city starts instancing itself so the sacking players can come up against city rulers. That's the only case though. You can't sack a city with 6 players so it will be a combined effort in order to get there.

Everything else appears to be and I hope stays as 6 man content.

As for the guilds, I suggest one USA guild, 1 Europe guild, and 1 Aussie guild. The guilds themselves should allow for casuals and hardcore players to interact together and not be seperate. There is not really a big call for large raiding style groups like you find in WoW. I assume it will take a hundred plus players to sack a city, or at least it should, so multiple guilds would have to band together to get to the point where 40 man teams were needed.

Also, 1 guild per region really fosters a sense of community. We are druchii.net and all that. Guild mates should work to support each other, and the hardcore gamers should focus on helping the casuals and vice versa. Drama needs to be left at the door. It's the thing that I hate the most out of guilds, the drama. I actually resigned as a guild leader due to back room politics in a prwevious game I played.

I think just a casual setup for everyone to hang out, have fun and play around. After a bit of thought I dont think anything hardcore at all would work but much like one of those newbie guilds. Just chilling!

I want MMOs to move away from 25 or 40 man stuff and start thinking about 6-12 man stuff anyway.

Like back in the good old days of D2...
I'm in favor of a guild and will be joining the EU. Personally i think making it exclusively druchii would look quite cool for any large scale events, but allowing all the destruction races seems most logical from both a playing stance and a laid back casual stance.

WAR is going away from set number of players for something anyway (just like good old UO times :P)
Public quests - whoever is in area
Scenarios - whoever joins, if there isn't enough people on one side they pile in NPC mercs
Keeps - open world so again, whoever comes no limit
Capital sieges - this one isn't said yet but from what I gather it's just another type of scenarios... so if there isn't enough people on one side - pile in mercs
Raids - this one I don't know about... but it's not focus of WAR :D even if you need specific number of people, 6 heroes should be enough to take down bloodthirster.

So I think we have decided on having 3 seperate entities. US, EU and Oceanic. We have also agreed that we wont be ridiculously hardcore and finally, that we should allow all types on races (even those dirty Italians*)

So, what should our name be?

A great addition in my books and many people (particularly us laid back folks) miss alot of great content when you can only get in the major instances with 25-40 people. Small groups will make individuals feel like they can make a bigger contribution and will allow everyone, even casual gamers a chance to fight the big stuff.

So I think we have decided on having 3 seperate entities. US, EU and Oceanic. We have also agreed that we wont be ridiculously hardcore and finally, that we should allow all types on races (even those dirty Italians*)

Sounds fine to me. Will certainly be in the NA unit. Not sure on the name. Perhaps start generating ideas and then have a poll up. I would say something that would include the overall Druchii race, ie. Army of Naggorath, Heralds of Malekith.

Sometimes the games don't allow you to use names of places or NPC characters in the game so we might need something like DNet NorthAmerica, DNet Europe, DNet DownUnder.

It really doesn't matter for me what we are called, but I am psyched that it looks as though we are making some progress. Keep the dialog going. It's only 4 months or less before we can chat about it in-game!

I actually like that idea Bryl to have d.net in the title. Could help advertise the site for all the warhammer dark elf players and perhaps get us a wee bit more attention. Any other ideas?

If d.net is put in the title then the guild would have to stay away from RP servers for obvious reasons... and RP server is where I'm going to be.

d.net guild... yes please! i'll join, but i'll have to join the laid back UK one... (yes we should have a third uk only one :P)

i'm thinking a Disciple for my first character, cause i don't like tank classes, but the executioner is looking very appealing in the concept art (but what I've seen of in game graphics, the executioner doesn't look good enough)... having said that being a witch elf looks like fun, even if i have to play a female character. (which is better than playing a male sorcerer!)

I would be happy to help run things, but I'm a very laid back player! (will play for a week solid then nothing for a month, or maybe a few hours a week etc)

Always good to hear when a MMORPG does not focus on Raids. I can't stand Raids. They bore me to death. ;)

I'll hopefully be playing, so I may be interested in the EU guild. This will be my first time playing a MMORPG, so excuse my lamentable ignorance.

Up to 15 man or so is ok, the old wow 40 man raids. Uff all the times I slept in MC or BWL, we even ended up talking in the healer channel and saying "ok you two can go afk now we handle it and when you get back you can take over"

Linda: I went through 13 bosses in Naxxramas and was in the first guild to beat molten core. Trust me, I never, EVER want to go back to those days. Did I mention all my naxx gear was worthless once I hit level 63? Ya. fun

Hate you blizzard!!!

I think i went, 2 *do nothing* 2 *do nothing* 3 *visit the loo*

Was such a yawnfest, even went cat form to dps now and then though that usually made the tanks whine a bit. But come on us healers where sleeping, or posting porn in the healer channel.

Healers in my guild were betting who can make the tank go lower in health before they cast heal :P

But healers in pvp were crazy after TBC... get them down to anything... one spell they're back to full health!
