HUP HOLLAND HUP! That was one hell of a great match to watch, and quite uncertain until the 3-1 goal fell lightning fast. And indeed quite light on the faults, very cleanly played by both (although Makelele and Ribéry were obviously frustrated).

Biggest in the tournament so far.
I think the result thasn´t really represent the game. France did play really good, but Holland did a plain awesome job, their offence is so brilliant.
I see Ribery as the best player in the game but unfortunately nobody in the French team is able to support him.

France against Italy is going to be a very interesting game, it´s all or nothing for both of them.

Italy vs Romania was worthy of a draw in the end - ref was definitely not the best but things roughly evened up (I've seen much worse than that in the Premiership ;)).

France just don't look interested, the older players have no energy and the younger players don't seem to care very much. Holland looked good again, but I've seen this before where they shoot their bolt too early.

But how did Italy deserved to win games in the previous years? Games which they won from penalty kicks the result of dives from the italian player. Don't be upset mate, the penalty made it even! It's up to you to qualify. And it's up to us to do a great game against the dutch, which at this point, i kinda doubt. But hey, such is life, one time you are up riding the waves, the next you are drowning in quicksands.

True Drizzt, but you can't deny that A) That wasn't offsides B) That wasn't a PK.

-Rex

p.s. Still hopeful... but a wee bit frustrated though I'm much calmer now after some good ole Italian drinking!

So I think it is clear to say that this year's refs are all blind. Though I admit that Netherlands played a great game, the score should have been closer to 2-2, as France had massiva amounts of chances. Also, Henry's shot was CLEARLY blocked by that defenders (the name escapes me), and would have gone in were it not to have been blocked.

The goal that Henry missed also took me by disbelief. One on one with keepers like that is when forwards shine, and especially the great Thiery Henry.

Finally, what the heck was the French manager thinking by introducing Gomis for Malouda? I mean yes, he scored two goals on his very first game for France, but that was a friendly agaisnt Ecuador. Way different conditions. Benzema should have been put in, as he has much more experience than Gomis.

All in all, today's game was very heart-rending, but extremely exciting none-the-less. It now comes down to Italy vs. France in a death match, which can only be as exciting as it gets.

Cheerz

P.S. Chelsea is going to own next year :D

if italy and france play tie romania is there but only if they don't loose with 3 goals in goal difference, it's possibly for them because netherlands are already to the quarters so they might save their best players and they don't want italia or france to get there ecspecially not Italy.
So everything is about italy and france if romania gets to the quarters.

An absolutely brilliant match. Most of the goals were fantastic though Robben's goal surpassed all of them.

i agree with the offside, but not with the penalty. When a defender has his hand around the neck of the attacker and pulls him down, that's a penalty. And that is exactly what i saw.
By good italian drinking do u mean red wine? You are lucky dude, as where i am right now that is a rara avis.

cheers

Haha Wine and Grappa with a few friends to get over the sting of the tie!

As for Italy or France making it out, I see it happening. If Italy beats France then its extremely likely to get out as Romania HAS to win against Netherlands which I don't see happening unless Nistelrooy really steps up.

Spain 2- Sweden 1! :)

The last goal of Spain by David Villa in almost last minute, same guy who scored 3 against Russia. What a genius!

An incredible Swedish suicide! On italian television everybody was arguing about the draw when Sweden defensor committed suicide.
Nice match, a pleasure to watch, expecially for Iternazionale supporter like me, go Ibrahimovic

Yeah, it sucked how Villa scored when there was 1 minute left, would have enjoyed a draw... Henrik Larsson was 10 cm from giving us 2 - 1 earlier :(

Oh well, Sweden's next match is on Wednesday (Russia)

Ibrahimovic ftw!

Azure, WE QUALIFY!
What a great stroke of luck but who cares?
French are out! Domenech is fired, good night !lol!
Next time bring Trezeguet, at least he can score.
As usual we are unpredictable, maybe we'll be butchered by Spain, who knows? We gonna play it.

I fear you'll be mauled by Spain.

I would have preferred Romania to win and France - Italy to tie, badly disappointed by all three teams but it would have made the following rounds a bit easier for those teams that really do deserve to win. Nevertheless Holland, even with half the B-team playing, was nice to watch and deserved those goals.

If soccer/football was a normal game I could agree with you but you know this is an unpredictable game. Italy always sucks in first stages, then we get better going on. Italy is a team like Germany, it is not important how they play football but in every world/European tournament you'll find one of these two team at least in semifinal.
Spain is exactly the reverse, they shine in first matches but always disappoint.
But who knows... maybe this is the time when football gods decided to kiss the best team
