Please rate my little 1k pts gobs army

Post by Ezechyel »

Hiya i'm making a second army after my druchii, i've choose goblins (no Orcs) especially night goblins. I've bought like 1k pts unpainted from a friend who stopped to play them and i'm thinking of my army list.
I won't play orc, only gobs cause they are so cheap and i like the night goblins.

Here's my first attempt to make an army list:

Hero :

1 Night Goblin Shaman @ 145 Pts
Magic Level 2
Nibbla's Itty Ring [25]
Dispel Scroll [25]

1 Goblin Shaman @ 115 Pts
Magic Level 2
Dispel Scroll [25]

1 Night Goblin Big Boss @ 56 Pts
General
Great Weapon
Light Armour
Nobbla's Elmet [20]

He is in the 29 night gob unit.

Base :
29 Night Goblins @ 169 Pts
Net (x6)
Spear
Shield
Full command
2 Fanatic

25 Night Goblins @ 155 Pts
Net (x5)
Spear
Shield
Full command
2 Fanatic

5 Goblin Wolf Riders @ 66 Pts
Spear
Shield
Musician

5 Goblin Wolf Riders @ 66 Pts
Spear
Shield
Musician

Spec :
1 Goblin Chariot @ 60 Pts

rare:
3 Stone Trolls @ 165 Pts

Casting Pool: 6
Dispel Pool: 4

Models in Army: 75

Total Army Cost: 997

My idea is to deploy the two infantry unit in the centre separated by the chariot to negate animosity, the chariot will support the weakest unit while the first pack of wolf support the other. the second pack of wolf will intend to take the enemy by is back : hunting warmachine if it can.

I really need your comments to improve this list :)

Ty a lot

First thing that caught my eye; Trolls are very risky when your army general's Ld is low... I only deploy these when my General's at least an Orc.

Maybe a Snot Pump Wagon instead? Lots cheaper, can be very destructive (also can do nothing at all during whole game) and will help you keep animosity under control if deployed between eg 2 units of Wolf Riders or Night Gobbo's and Wolf Riders.

This 'll save you quite some points that can be invested in eg another Chariot, some bows for your Wolf Riders and maybe even a third Chariot or 2 more Fanatics...

The reason i take Troll is that my friend sell me three of them at a very cheap price and the models looks awesome (i've paint my first one and think i do a really good job :) ), will try them and if they do nothing i will take another chariot instead. And this army is principally for my g/f, i've bought the first models to make her a present for christmas. She really likes the doom diver model, is it worth its points? (each time we go to our local store she tries to make me buy it ;) )

@no fake: You got it i will go heavy magic, and will buy squiggs as soon as i've finish to paint all the models i have, they look so fun.

@quasekomiki: Snot pump wagon is a good idea too, i don't worry if it does nothing this army is just for fun.

To go for 2kpts i intend to buy snot bases to take a flank, and maybe some spear chukka, one more chariot fore sure, a unit of 20 bowgobs (they will do nothing but night gobbo's bows are nice).

Thx for all your advices

Maybe you could get a giant and a spear chukka instead of the trolls and chariots, they always give me trouble when I play agaist them.

whenever ive looked towards playing with goblins all i see that is good in 1000 points is 6 chariots (evil in any game), lotsa fanatics, lotsa gobbos and lotsa magic, with a giant or 2 to top it off.

with the wolf riders, do they work?? i doubt it because theyre gonna be trying to pass their rally like our harpies (and that is very bad :? ). i always thought a big unit for close combat might work better, who jknows becuase i dont play gobbos

good luck

You get two gobbo chariots for one special choice : they don't take one each.

It's fun and usually one or two hits are enough to earn back it's points and ehrm, great fig :D

Fot 1000 pts, you'll have to choose between Snot Pump Wagon & Doom Diver though; as for doin' nothing, my last battle those Snots squashed an entire unit of 5 Chaos Knights in turn one (I went second) then it offed 2 Chaos Wizards & a bunch of Warriors... earned about 10 times it's worth in points.

Very, very, very good idea, I've got 10 of those myself and my opponents really loathe those...

Also, stick to your Squig idea, those guys are fun too!

@fake : ty a lot that's what i've planned but i try to paint them well, don't want to have units of all blacks night gobbos (i'm painting flame, red triangles,... on their robes). And my g/f who will play with them the most really likes the units you mentionned especially squiggs and doom diver.

I've paint some of them and try to borrow a digital camera to take photos and post it here :) .

Ty a lot for all your advices else i will get stuck with 3 ineffective stone troll and chariot are a lot better. :D

you seem to like a giant a lot, bud its really riscy in a all gobo army. is doesn't have a lot of wounds, so panic is easely caused, and panic in a gobbo army......lets not go there.. ;)

Bah they are gobs, so your entire army running away is just normal ;) .
With gobs sometimes all goes right and you are invincible and sometimes .... they all flee at turn 2.
And for the giant i plan to have one but will use it sometimes, think that doomdiver and snot pump chariot are a way more funny. (think i will not resist taking my flying gob and throwing it really on the units of my enemy !lol! !lol! ).

@cordorniu: i got some netter 11 of them in my night gob units.
