very nice idea flash 29 but incorrect, getting warmer though. Calisson, how many people do you know who have a 'a wreckage raft' as a part of them, sounds like a horrible sort of lab accident ;)

All sailors have deep in their souls, the fear of their ship being wrecked.
I don't know about landslubber, I know only a few of them.

Back to the riddle:

Drifts, dreams, darkens, destroys.
=> Ambition, sure. (Did not noticed that Flash just said it, thanks Meteor for pointing it - it must be the proper answer).

Hehehe. I think you meant landlubbers. I much prefer land slubber though :):):)

Oh, and the squids definitely made my day :)

 I take offence to being called a slubber!!! Is that like flubber except slimier? In which case that is a depressingly accurate description of my physique ;) That made me laugh so hard that I felt compelled to add it to my sig.

All of these are nice tries, but I'm looking for something alittle different, emotions come from the heart, what else can you be ruled by?

But in all serious-ness, shall have to wait and think a bit more on this one haha.

lol Meteor, very true, I've got a good joke about that:

Outside the pearly gates of heaven, there are two queues of people waiting to go inside. Above the first there is a sign which reads:
"All those men whose lives have been dominated by their wives please stand here." This queue stretches off miles into the distance as far as the eye can see.
The second queue's sign reads:
"All those men whose lives have not been dominated by their wives please stand here."
And standing below this sign is a single bloke with a tash and a bowler hat.
St. Peter looks at him and says: "what the hell do you want?"
To which the bloke replies: "Well, me missus told me to stand here..."

Nobody ever point this post out to my girlfriend please ;)

Back to the riddles! Carolus, you've cracked it! The mind does indeed drift, dream, darken and destroy, well done! There is only one left now to solve, and then I will have to post a load more up!!!

well, I have a couple more riddles for you all:

Hold great power, as such,
yet your flesh, they cannot touch,
cut deeper than tempered steel,
soothe wounds no balm can heal.

has a soul but no mind,
treads the path for all time,
taps to the beat,
marches to the drum,
takes the pain, forever numb.

Have edited them into the first post, and we still have:

see without light,
hear without sound,
taste without smell,
nothing lost, yet something found.

;) I'll give you a clue for the last one:
Veni, Vidi, Voro!!!

3 swings, two near misses, one that landed right on the button. Well done Garbidge, the answer to "hold great power, as such..." is indeed words. I put my thinking cap on today and came up with a few more:

Great leveller,
Final Divide,
Black Abyss,
Void's other side.

Wingless it flies,
conqueror's pride,
hero's black veil,
colours of sail.

Dances, taps, grasps and slaps.

Something a little bit more Druchii related (need to have read the malus books for this one really):

all-consuming breath,
birthed without maw,
wyrm's deadly caress,
forged by the dark lore.

Turns mountain into hill,
Dwarf into giant,
Hero into villain,
what was set in stone, becomes pliant.

Something to ponder over the christmas period, happy Winter Solstice to you all!

all very nice tries meteor but incorrect I'm afraid.

Turns mountain into hill,
Dwarf into giant,
Hero into villain,
what was set in stone, becomes pliant.

Time!

time does indeed fit but it is not the answer I am looking for, mainly because I would feel too much like I was plagiarising Tolkien's riddle in 'The Hobbit':

"This thing, all things devour,
birds, bees, trees and flowers,
gnaws iron, bites steel,
and grinds hard stones to meal,
slays king, ruins town,
and beats high mountain down."

to which the answer is time.

The answer to my one is something less absolute, in fact, one of two correct answers to this riddle is the opposite of absolute, especially in measurement of things such as time. The other possible answer is Kenobi's justification of his deception, making his lie become the truth. Whilst we are on the subject of cryptic clues ;) :

see without light,
hear without sound,
taste without smell,
nothing lost, yet something found.

it is not a bat or a fish, or any creature or plant, it is not of substance atall, it simply is

has a soul but no mind,
treads the path for all time,
taps to the beat,
marches to the drum,
takes the pain, forever numb.

whilst the last riddle's answer has no substance, the answer to this riddle is something you can touch and feel, something most people will see about them or be using much of the time, yet this object often passes without notice, it is something as real as the shirt upon your back.

Those clues should get you all suitably confused and annoyed

with hatred anything is possible? a dwarf can be hated so much he seems like a giant.
it can turn a hero into a villian and again with hatred anything is possible?

Carolus to the rescue again! he is a mean, lean, riddle-solving machine!

The answer to 'has a sole but no mind...' is indeed a shoe! I know I cheated a little by spelling 'sole' as 'soul' but I didn't want to make it too easy for you, as it is, Carolus has beaten me again.

Nice try flash but, contrary to popular (Druchii) belief, hate is not the answer. This time ;) Or at least, not from where I am standing, point of view can change everything.
