Warhammer world cup

Post by Karond »

Just thought it would be interesting to compare Warhammer armies with teams from the world cup. Couldn't think of who the druchii would be but here's a few...

Dwarves = Italy, well organized, defensive but lacking pace.
Vampire counts = Uruguay, Suarez - nuff said. (army/team also crumbles when vampire Lord is vanquished)
Bretonnians = Chile, Gung ho all out attack. Death or glory.
Chaos = England - for us to be successful we need to start praying to some dark gods.
Orcs = Cameroon, animosity definitely kicked in
Dogs of war = Ghana, we won't play unless we're paid!
Empire = Germany, rugged, relentless and industrious.

Any thoughts?

Here below are the complete list for more match-ups.
Copy/paste and keep going!

WHFB: 32 armies (GW and non-official)
1 Beastmen -
2 Bretonnia - Chile, Gung ho all out attack. Death or glory.
3 Daemons of Chaos (led by Khorne) - Belgium: Bloodletters with a daemon prince as goal keeper. They are called the Red Devils, after all. The goal scored against them by Argentina was clearly made with the Other Trickster Shard.. One of the few ways to beat the Daemon Prince.
4 Dark Elves - Argentina. Lots of skill, most flashy star player (DL), were outgunned in the final match up.
5 Dwarfs - Italy, well organized, defensive but lacking pace.
6 High Elves - Colombia (golden shirts, flashy forward play, tournament Star (Dragon) player, gallant losers in the end)
7 Lizardmen - Costa Rica: came from a new world jungle, nobody really knew what to expect, and they surprised a lot of people. Not the fastest or the strongest, but well organized by their overlord coaches.
8 Ogre Kingdoms -
9 Orcs & Goblins - Cameroon, animosity definitely kicked in
10 Skaven - Switzerland, great at tunneling but not much to show in offensive discipline.
11 The Empire - Germany, rugged, relentless and industrious.
12 Tomb Kings - Brazil, living on ancient merits and have total lack of re-deploy, also crumble has a completely new meaning from now forth
13 Vampire Counts - Uruguay, Suarez - nuff said. (army/team also crumbles when vampire Lord is vanquished)
14 Warriors of Chaos - England - for us to be successful we need to start praying to some dark gods.
15 Wood Elves - Netherlands (flavour of the month, only the guile of their dark kin can resist their otherwise irresistible movement)
16 Dogs of war - Ghana, we won't play unless we're paid!
17 Chaos Dwarfs -
18 Albion -
19 Amazons -
20 Araby -
21 Cathay -
22 Cult of Urlic -
23 Empire Knightly Orders -
24 Estalia -
25 Fimir -
26 Halflings - Honduras, nobody expected them to win, and they were up to their expectations.
27 Hobgoblins - Bosnia-Herzegovina, did anyone know they were playing?
28 Kingdoms of Ind -
29 Kislev -
30 Nauticans - USA, participated to a game totally foreign to them.
31 Nippon -
32 Norse -

Updated Melle's Brazil. Not sold on your arguments for France & USA.
Updated T.D.'s Argentina. However, Scotland was not among the 32, while Albion has an army book to play with.

I would make Belgium the Khorne Daemons of Chaos: Bloodletters with a daemon prince as goal keeper. They are called the Red Devils, after all. The goal scored against them by Argentina was clearly made with the Other Trickster Shard.. One of the few ways to beat the Daemon Prince.

So we have nearly half of the teams by now.
Any other input?

Nippon - Japan (did you see what I did there? :P)

High Elves - Colombia (golden shirts, flashy forward play, tournament Star (Dragon) player, gallant losers in the end)

Netherlands - Wood Elves (flavour of the month, only the guile of their dark kin can resist their otherwise irresistible movement)

Edited :P
