Re: Raven Cloaks
Small units of shades are great chaff, and also excel in the anti-chaff role. They make credible warmachine hunters IF you can get them deployed behind the enemy battleline (if not, M5 will rarely get you there in time).
As scouts they can also be used to block enemy vanguard moves.
Large units of shades make good firebases ahead of your main combat forces, especially if you can deploy them into a building or behind a wall.
The Raven Cloaks are currently suffering under a major nerf to the scout rule. Being forced to deploy 18" away from enemy units puts them at long rage to shoot, two turns of movement away from infiltrating the enemy line, pretty much eliminates their value in blocking vanguard moves, and.completely eliminates their ability to go after warmachines. As such, they're a wee bit overpriced in 9th age right now. They're still great at anti-chaff, but that's about all... and we have other units to do that for less. And some of those options come out of the required core points...
