Two questions from a n00b who doesn't want to be a n00b!

Post by Krator »

I've two questions for you guys:

1: In a poll I started, everybody says: Put your highborn on a manticore. But isn't that manticore VERY vurnable to shooting? (with no armor!) OR is there a rule wich gives the manticore protection?

2: What is autobreaking? When does a unit autobreak? I can't find it in my rulebook under break, panic, fear, terror enz...

thanks!

Yep, the manticore is vulnerable to shooting. But it's the best mount for a highborn in a 2000 pts army. Just make sure you'll be in combat fast and use the terrain so that your opponent can't shoot your Manticore

It's under fear in the psychology section. When you loose combat from a unit you fear and the fear-causeing unit outnumbers you you'll autobreak (you'll flee withouth taking a break-test)

1: yes he's vurnerble, bud a manticore can fly(20inch charge range) he can be hidden from few(behind forrests) and he still had t5, bud ive you wand 2 you can always put him on dragon or cold one

2: autobreaking is when a fear causing unit wins a combat, and has a higher unit strengt

Cold One Knights are very useful to chare and win the combat then outnumber and the opponent will autoflee whilst you pursue 3D6 inches.
Good tactic there...

Manticore's are suseptible to Misslie fire, but with a 20" move can use terrain to block enemy LOS from Missile units. In addition if playing an enemy with lots of Missile units, but no Cannons, try hiding behind a War Hydra in set up. Both are large Targets, so can block LOS from one to the other!

If you can ever beat the annoying little bearded ones.

Edited to say what I meant ie beat them with fear they auto break if outnumbered so easy to break them.

Without autobreak it´s hard to make the "Bearded Ones" flee. And that 2D6 -1, because of their short legs, is not helping them either...

But why does everyone takes units of 7 COK? It has only unit strenght 14.. Not enough to autobreak infatry blocks!

because with a charcter you get one extra rank. and it is enough to break most enemies as you will proibably kill quite a lot on the charge

Uh, that would be jolly nice :) I'm tho planning to make rear or flank charge on his elite regiment, when I've destroyed the rest of his army :) and front or flank charge him with another unit of 23 executioners and a noble with crimson and bloodarmour :) hehe.. :D boy, is he gonna lose.

Nevermind.. his longbeards stod the charge of my 8 COKs, without any but 1 casulty, and broke me in 3rd CC phase, didn't run them down, but instead charged my executioners, standing behind them with his run, got them to brake in first turn or second CC phase, then took on my corsairs in the run, which he didn't kill them with, and then my corsairs stood the charge, and broke them in next CC phase... man, those dices...

But well, I locked 4/6th of his army out of the game :) which is in some way decent.

... Oh... another thing. My harpies charged his cannon who got 1 turn to shot at my executioners, killed 3. He beated my harpies cause I made 3 hits, 0 wounds, I ran, then continued to run back again (nearest edge), then rallied, forgot em 1 round where I charged the cannon with Dark riders, (he forgot grapeshot) I make his warriors run, don't catch em  and they are next to my now rallied harpies, still in panic. Guess what I do... forget that I'd run them down, and charge his cannon crew from the rear, he kill the harpies, and make my dark riders run, only with 1 dwarf lost of the 3 crew, and I just couldn't say anything.
I got a draw, but if I had just flown down his warrior regiment with the runesmith.. I would have had a minor to solid victory... gosh....

Sorry for putting this here..

Dilvish: I think Shadowspite is doing large fancy ones for people who PM him. Check other threads on avatars and whoever is doing it says so somwhere in one.
