Lord's Challenge
Im new so this might be a duff question but if my opponent is fielding a lord on foot, on his own and he charges my unit, can he challenge that unit, what happens to the attacks of the models not in the challege, do i still get the combat res of my like ranks, if he kills the character who accepted the challenge can he challenge another.

it's explained pretty clearly on page 76 of the BRB.
Basically if the Lord challenge a character in the unit (there has to be a character or at least a champion) they can accept/decline. If they accept, they fight solo combat and no one else in the enemy unit can fight the Lord on foot (or even if he's mounted the mount is in the challenge too). If the enemy declines, then the whatever character is thrown to the back and the unit fights the Lord.
If you don't challenge, and they challenge you with something, you have no choice but to accept because he is alone. This is usually the smarter play because the Lord will only kill 1 model many times over and you can try to make the Lord flee with CR.

yer i get that, but if its a really strong lord, he could kill the champion and get the overkill points, break the unit then run them down and kill them all.

Yes, it can happen, but it's unlikely in most cases.
A fully ranked unit has +3 from ranks, +1 from outnumbering and +1 from bearing a standard. It also wins draws because of the musician.
The character needs to score 6 (!!) Wounds in order to win the combat by 1. A typical Lord on foot is not capable of doing that (esp. with a few missed Attacks, since only a 3+ hits). And then you still have a good chance of staying where you are.
Striking back is usually irrelevant, so the challenge is most often in favor of the unit.

Other quick Question does the Character negate ranks in a flank charge, Eg if a Unit of BG are in cc with a Unit of Chaos warriors and they gets Flank charged by a Chaos hero does the BG get all there Ranks negated by just that one guy.

Only if the Hero's unit strength is 5 or greater, which I'm not sure is possible on foot.
