Meh, S10 on the charge for one close combat phase is okay I guess....

Still won't kill a Dragon on the charge, at most 5 Wounds if you're lucky and get CoB's +1A , 5 hits and 5 wounds.

No matter how high your strength is, a 1 will always fail to wound. Better to somehow get more attacks if you are that worried about the mage.

It would be better most times to save the potion in case you get stranded in the combat for a second turn. That way, high strength on the charge, but6 also high strength next turn as well if needed.

That said, I can't see why you would ever need the potion vs a mage...

It would be of use against a Slann because you need S7 to wound him on 2+, but in that case I'd rather take the hydra blade hoping for a good roll because then you can kill it in one go.

I can't really see why you would need S10 either... honestly - S7 is good enough for most cases and war machines only need their crew killed to be dealt with (apart from the hellcannon). If you desperately need S10 - how about Hellebron? She'll give you S10 any day :D

HUZZAH!

ok thanks for the replies, i hadnt considered the wound chart (dont have my book with me where i currently am). I will probably take the deathpiercer and potion then, and Silverheimdall in that army another manticore master has the ring of hotek.

why don't you just take an Assassin with Cloak of Twilight and stick him in some Shades. Then you can deploy forward, find a way to get LoS and charge. give him rune of khaine, extra hw and manbane and he'll kill that thing in one turn, easy.

Well you could use caledor's bane in first round and potion of strength in second round.
It gives an extra round of strenght.
Never know what to do next, you might surprise yourself

Or you could just use Sword of Might, which wounds a T3 Wood Elf Mage on a 2+ every round for a fraction of the cost. ;)
