Multiple Wounds special rule
could someone help me clear this up for me?
now i get that vs W1 models the D* Wounds rule is lost.
and vs monsters or single models the rule works as normal.
but what happens vs say Models that have W3 and are in a unit?
Like what if i charge a unit of Monsterous Something with 3 Wounds each, with my Lord with CoT, i inflict 3 Wounds in total.
do i roll all those 3D3 Wounds at the same time and inflict that total amount of Wounds to the unit or do i need to roll each one separate and add them one at a time? (so for the first D3 i roll a 4 so i inflict 2 wounds failing to kill 1 guy, then i roll the next die and roll a 6 doing 3 wounds. I only need 1 wound to kill the first MI but what happens do the remaining 2? are they lost or do they transfer over to the next?)
hope this makes sense cause its bugging me out

Roll 3d3 and apply that number of total wounds to the unit.

That's how I understand the rule to be. Then remove full models dependent on number of wounds caused on the unit.

Re: Multiple Wounds special rule
It only makes any difference if the models you're fighting have less wounds than your multiple wounds rule.
For example if you had multiple wounds (d6) and fighting ogres (3W each), each d6 you roll would be capped at 3.

And this is where i trip and fall xD for Cannon Shots and Bolt Shots i know the mechanic.
My confusion comes more from our CoT vs units with Multiple Wounds.
So an Ogre i would only kill on a 5-6 roll. but what if i only manage to do 2 wounds with my firs roll (leaving him left with 1 Wound. if i then roll a 5-6 i should inflict 3 wounds. but do those remaining 2 carry over to another model in the unit then?
Tho i think I'll go with Dyvims way... much easier to figure out xD

Re: Multiple Wounds special rule
If that happens, you do a total of 5 wounds to a unit of ogres.

But if it was a unit where each model had two wounds, then you would do 4 wounds to the unit? or still 5?

Re: Multiple Wounds special rule
If those were 2W models (and not 3W model with a wound each, which by the way would be illegal) then multiple wiunds are capped at 2 and you would do 4 wounds total.

Re: Multiple Wounds special rule
This question has been asked soo many times over the years in soo many different guises. Here is how it has worked and will work until the system goes 360 degrees on us.
1 Roll to hit
2 Roll to wound
3 Take whatever saves are possible or allowed
4 For each unsaved wound roll for multi wound purpose
No one model can take more wounds than it has on its profile (as has been said several times already)
Example
Old school dread lord with executioners axe. Item no longer exist but works well enough.
He swings 4 times on orges. Hits all 4, rolls to wound rolls 3 wounds, orges fail all saves. Roll mulit wounds(d3), rolls crappy and gets 4 wounds in total, one orge dies and one gets a floating wound.
This is pretty much how multi wound has worked since its origin and how it will more than likely work for a long time to come.
