Dark Magic- Bladewind question

Post by charles.sadlerii »

When casting Bladewind on a unit, after they have rolled thier WS tests do you the DE player have to roll to wound or do they just take the the S4 hit without you rolling to wound?

You have to roll to wound. A S4 hit is only a hit, it hasnt wounded yet :)

though dont let that stop you from using it :D against most units that really fill up on numbers it can statisticly still kill 25% of the unit.

Just try it against a 50 strong zombie bunker, try it, get it off and then let the opponent roll the dice for you as a gesture of goodwill, while you laugh manically

Just abit of a shame to "waste" power dice killing zombies and slaves, when the important aspects of his army are untouched...

yeah slaves and zombies are quite a waste, tho its extremly fun to do if no other targets are available :D
my m8 likes to field 40+ Halbediers in his Empire army, sure they are usually LD8/9 with a reroll... but still blasting that unit with BladeWind and cutting ~25% of that unit to shreds is very rewarding :P (especially if by a fluck they actually Panic)

This is one of those spells that we have encase of hordes, but any unit with average WS amd low to moderate armor and have fun.

And since it effects every one in a unit, its a great way of getting an early wound on wizzards or killing off champions

@Thraundil,
I don't think it is a waste to cast BladeWind on Slaves or Zombies.
On slaves it is a huge bonus....if i manage to kill 20-25 or so of these (not that hard)...then I will probably break them in the first round of combat.... And that is the huge advantage.
Same goes for zombies...get this spell of once...and get into combat the next turn.

This spell is designed to take on huge blocks of infantry...and it is very easy to cast.

I once had a O&G players complain about this spell being to powerfull.... He had a 50 strong night goblin bunker... at the end of one turn ... in which i managed to get Soulblight and Blade Wind of...and had 10 Dark Riders shoot at the unit...he was left with just 10 guys and his mage.

Heck, it does wonders to a horde of slayers.....death blow the wind your little fat bastards!

It's also amazing against beastmen hordes.

Hit those punks with a miasma and/or word of pain to watch the wonders of bladewind really kick in. It's a great spell.

Blade wind is one of the spells that makes me really enjoy dark magic, shedding a great chunk off a unit, especially when combined with WoP outs me in my happy place.

Yes. But your opponent ruins it by stopping either spell so it's hard to do.
