Power of Darkness and Ward Saves

Post by Druchii36 »

Can a sorceress who takes a wound from Power of Darkness make a ward save if she has one.

The spells states no armour saves of any kind can be taken, but a ward save isn't an armour save is it?

Anzipals Black Horror specifically states that a single ward save can be taken so does the spell have to specifically state that ward saves are permitted?

I believe it can, yes. Also, from our unofficial FAQ:

Q: If a Sorceress suffers a wound from Power of
Darkness, can she take a ward save?
A: Yes, the Sorceress also benefits from any
Magic Resistance she might have.

Yes, a Ward Save may be taken and if any Magic Resistance is present, this will also stack with the Ward Save.

You will always get ward saves against Wounds, unless the rules specifically state otherwise. They are separate and additional to armour saves, and Power of Darkness doesn't disallow ward saves.

Black Horror is unusual, in that it kills targets without causing wounds, but specifically allows a ward save to avoid its effects.

In the case of Power of Darkness, it's a Wound caused by a spell, so you'd get your ward save plus any Magic Resistance.
