Magic resistance versus Black Horror?

Post by Ajattaro »

So what is Dnets standing in this matter?

BH allows use of a normal ward save surely, but since it does not cause damage does it trigger MR special rule? BH does not cause any damage per se, it removes from play ("model is slain outright" by the rules text)

Magic resistance states as following:
A model with Magic Resistance has a bonus to its ward save when saving against damage caused by spells. - - A model with Magic Resistance and no ward save normally would therefore have a ward save against damage of spells

So, what is damage? Caused wounds? I have a hunch that RAW does not give MR save against BH, but I think it should be allowed.

I guess this has been discussed on this forum before but I couldn't find anything with search.

MR gives a bonus ward save vs spells... And black horror is a spell which allows ward saves. So yes; magic resistance does work against BH, and it stacks with already existing ward saves, such that a guy with 4+ ward and mr(2) gets a 2+ save against it, for example.

It's simplest that way is propably right. I dont know if this should be included in FAQ like PoD wound has been included?

What I find to be very disturbing is that MR doesnt help you against miscasts, since a miscast isnt a spell while its clearly a form of magical damage (e.g. an explosion of magical energy – it wont get any "magicier")

Do not try to apply logic to warhammer :P a miscast is a magical attack. If MR should work against that, then suddenly every deathstar out there would be immune to all daemon attacks and all magic weapon wielding characters :P
