19/08/03 - ALL - REPORTERS NEEDED!
Hey,
The Monthly-reporter list has been cleared, meaning that all existing reporters have been deleted.
This is done due to an important reorganisation progress meant to reanimate the monthly. My apologies to the deleted reporters, but you failed to reply to the mail about this and I had to act. You may ignore that e-mail now.
So here I am again, recruiting reporters.
Well, then, first things first; The Monthly changes to The Quarterly as it proved difficult to deliver an issue each month (as you must have noticed). The first issue of The Quarterly is due for october.
Typical tasks for reporters will be the following:
-Browsing all non-initiative fora to search for intresting discussions and
threads. (This part seems to be neglected previously)
-Writng reports about these intresting discussions and converting
intresting threads to articles.
-Writing miscellaneous articles about scenery, for example.
---------------(all of these tasks on own initiative)----------------------------
That will be the main tasks of a typical reporter. We expect at least one
article per Quarterly per reporter.
If you do not like these main tasks, but do like to write costum articles, parts of series, or execute special tasks, say so, and we'll see what we can do.
Once accepted as a reporter, you may apply for special tasks like The Cauldron of Blood, Editing, or writing parts for series.
If you may not have the time to be a regular reporter, you can become a free-lance reporter; you can submit articles on own initiative, or be asked to do something if the Quarterly is short on time or articles.
The great disadvantage of being an free-lance reporter is that, besides not being an official reporter and not having acces to the reporter-forum, The Quarterly retains the right to edit the submission at will (and thus without the 'approval' of the author)
At the first of September, the Reporters forum will officially open and work can commence. There will be an announcements with more extensive guidelines. Read this announcement carefully and reply to topics if your asked to.
If you want to apply to be a reporter, please do so in the thread on the initiatves forum
Thanks for your co-operation

Z'gahn wrote:@auric: you could wait a week for school to start and then decide; we start spetember the first. But i'm afraid that you'll have to make a choice between free-lance and regular reporter. (choose regular )
To all: please post applies in the initiatives forum
I guess I could. I really doubt I'm doing anything after school this year, so this might be good for some other work. I do have a question though (sorry if this is in the announcements, but...)
Do we actually recieve an assignment or do we find something interesting and write about it before the deadline?

Yes, you have to write on own initiative, but we do expect at least one article an issue (ie, every 3 months)
@elvenknight: as a regular reporter, you have 3 months to write an article (tho that is reduced for the first some issues to 1 and 2), so i guess that's time enough even with lots of school stuff (shoot yourself, tho )

My thoughts have brought me down the road of peril.. now, I have a few questions to ask before I say this or that:
1. What is the criteria for a piece to be submitted? Words, meaning and etc.
2. In what countries is Druchii.net Monthly released?
3. Is there any work you get thrown on, or do you have to take every initiave yourself? I read the previous posts, and it gave both a hint of dis and that.
That was it. Now, please be adviced taht I am highgly interested tobee a reporter in the Druchii.net Monthly, as I have loads and loads of imagination and interest laying around. I am a rumoured busy person, but this project I find quite engaging.. so I'll perhaps give it a try?

okay,
1. we want one article per reporter each issue (ie mostly each 3 months), and it would be nice if the articles are about a page or longer, but it is not a certain must. The subject must always be druchii related, and i belief that's about it.
2. Everywhere, it's an E-zine, distrubuted trough the internet.
3. Everything is on your own initiative, but if you have sed to do something, but you don't, we'll get on your back if you don't have a good reason.
I hope that pleases!

Well then, Z'gahn: Count me in, matey. I'll do some humour stuff for x-mas, and perhaps some articles in fine subjects of druchii delicacy. And as for reporter or freelance, I'll do it reporter-style.

To me (as a former member of the reporters' team) it looks like almost every article is written by another initiative. If we take out all the Fluff articles, all the hobbying articles and all the tactical articles we really don't have that much to do.
But, Z'Gahn, if you feel like another reporter is needed, then go ahead.
