Games Workshop Warhammer Forum

Post by Dark Alliance »

Being without druchii.net over the last few days has really illustrated just how bad the GW boards are, and just how good this site is.

Being new to forums per se I never really took much notice of GW on the odd occasion I used to visit it. One visit which resulted in my finding this site (thanks Linda).

However, browsing it recently, due to boredom, two things really struck me -
1. The amount of flaming going on - as well as downright offensive posts. Which started to turn against the druchii users a couple of days ago - did anyone else notice that?

and

2. How little the GW mods seem to do towards stopping these abusers of what should be a fun medium.

Maybe I was just brought up with too many good manners. Congratulations to the users of druchii.net. Keep up the high standard of discussion and help I have seen so far.

So glad it is back! :D

Well, there was even a guy that complained there were waaay too much Druchii posts present on "his" board.

I told him something like we'll be gone when Druchii is back and then you've only got all the other armies to get rid of before you can discuss important things like flaming, whining (why does everyone at GWS forums spell that 'Whinning"?

The reason why the GW forums seem cack and poorly moderated is down to the fact that a lot of the posters are kids. The same kids that appear in GW stores, who's purpose in life seems to be to make the hobby as horrible as possible to anybody over the age of 20 who just want to have a game with toy soldiers. (Although this isn't 100% true as some 20+ years olds act like kids when playing the game!!! :D ) Also a lot of the mods seem to have other jobs in GW too so don't always get chance to spot a lot of what goes on (especially with the amount of posts that get posted each day!).

Mind you the GW boards are nice as they help keep the idiots away from places like this! :D

Kids eh???

AS has been recently proven, loads of the people on druchii.net are actually 13/4/5 (including me!).

But as the dark elves are mainly an intellectual army (ie. TACTICS are needed! No just charging forwards and slaughtering everything in sight!) meaning we get the smart kids (ignoring me of coarse ;) .)

Age doesn't necessarily equate to Maturity

Post by Binky »

Yeah we went over this already...A lot of people on this forum (no idea what percentage but probably over 20% :?: ) are in fact under the age of 17 and a large number of those are 13-14 (Sureal and I for example)

Remember: Age doesn't necessarily equate to Maturity

which is why I also said:

I'm also going from personal experiance from GW stores and games day, which is why I only go to my local GW store on Vets nights as thats over 16's only! I apologise if I've offened anyone but I also consider anybody younger than 20 as a kid!

I thought that GW forum was good but then I came here and got spoiled. Now when the site was down I went back and I just can say: What a crap! It is so bad compare to this site. I must say that Kitrik should be a DE god for starting this wonderful site.

And I ahve to agree that age don´t matter at all, jusr your wisdom and manners(myself are 26)

It seems to me really that people argue and act immature the less they know about the rules. So age really doesn’t affect maturity.

meh the games workshop boards dont bother me as its always this 'chaos is the super power' followed up by ' quit bitchin you druchii player and learn some tactics' (shrug) not my problem. But what really got me is that the portent forums stoped working for me, so i was left with only the games workshop boards    Ahh well im happy now

A lot of it has to do with the fact that we are all like minded in a lot of respects. At GW there's everybody there. So here we're a lot more civil because we are all going through simular experiences.

I totally agree with that. I've been lurking abit on these boards for a while and it does seem a nice place to be, although the WPS boards are the best WFB boards around and possibly the best GW boards around!

my name never evoled from anything - it was just a couple of random letters I put together that strangley spelt out Sureal... I'd be more worried if it spelt out 'your going to die' though...

Just in case (heaven forbid) Druchii.net goes down again, http://www.players-society.com/newforum is a good warhammer site for all races, and is basicaly the same as druchii.net (but brighter!).

Well it was intresting watching Casino and watching the furniture vibrating across the floor, but the real intresting thing was where the epicenter was. Directly under a petrol station not far from me with a few overhead electricity cables nearby!

The thing i've noticed with the GW boards is that people post strong opinions, and will not shift from them even if they are wrong, or if there is another way. Which leads to long, tedious arguements which flow into other posts...especially when people are talking about, or defending, their own armies.

That and people who post questions about really, really basic rules which are in the rulebook or army book, and there is no way you could not understand the rule from reading it.

Roughly 5 miles, so it wasn't close enough to be a danger to me, but I probably would have heard the bang!

I think you will find that on any forum on the net as stubborn people are everywhere! :D As I've jabbered on about earlier, the GW forums seem to be full of kids (best rephase that ...... replace 'kids' with 'not very mature people' :D) but they also suffer from the fact that the mods are effectively 'firefighting' due to the amount of posters.
