Threads that you MUST Read: The Best of the Past

Post by Rasputinii »

Hi all,

As I was scowering the back pages of this forum I began to come accorss articles and discussion topics that are nothign short of damned fantastic. With these threads being at least a year old I have no doubt that huge swathes of the active member base have never read them. I don't blame you, they have been lost in the back pages. Most of these are not articles but discussion threads, where a topic is rigorously debated.

Since the hall of fame is some what resticted in only taking articles I wanted to post this here so some of you can take advantage f the best things that have been said before. That said there are two articles in the list that are just to good to not go to the hall of fame. The two asterisked threads below have therefore earnt their much deserved place in the hall of fame.

Any way, enough talk, here are the threads....

So quite a bit to read there, but they are threads that IMO should be read by every one on the site...

Excellent, thanks Ras. I haven't seen most of these threads, so I'll be sure to read all of them thoroughly.

By the way, what does the * mean, that has been put by some of the threads?
"Purrrrr...."

i.e. move into position, huge ammounts of shooting, nobody gets killed.

:D Glad it helped. I may add one or two more, but to get them requires some further digging.

@The Liger: See quote below ;)

In the opening post I wrote:The two asterisked threads below have therefore earnt their much deserved place in the hall of fame.

@Hajjij: Indeed, thats what I thought when I was reading through some of them. In away its quite sad reading some of 'em, because I remember having alot of very interesting discussions with some great people that now barely, if ever post here. Its not that it was better, but it was different, and I do miss some of those discussions...

Oh BTW, would it be helpful if I did something similar with Army Lists? I know Ash has done the greatest lists threads but there are a handful of Army List threads which contain some great tactical discussions. Indeed a for a period of time this forum was relatively dull compared to the discussions in the AL forum.

Ras

EDIT: Damn! I have just added 6 more. I have no idea how I missed those 6, which I can only say are 6 of the most important threads EVER written on the site. Well, 4 of them are. The other two are just really good. As you can see two more asterisks, so two more hall of fame additions.

As a note I have decided to produce another of these threads, in that I am going to collect the whole field problem series, also a must read set of threads...

Now with 7th edition out not all these tactics remain valid (for example the chain linked noble tactic is dead and removed).

With that in mind we ask that people report any tactics that may have changed and make a post (new thread) where we can update the tactics.
