CoK's to be off the market soon?

I stopped by my local game store to pick up some CoKs I had ordered and the lady told me she wasn't allowed to place an order on them and that they were being pulled in a couple of weeks. She told me they were going to all plastic (which we already knew), but she didn't know when they were coming out.

I thought this wasn't going to happen until later in the year? Why pull them now? I guess I won't be getting any anytime soon but on the other hand I won't be spending double the money since I won't have to replace the old ones when the new ones come out.

GW stopped doing a LOT of bitz orders because of their new bitz system. I don't think it has to do with CoK specifically, at least not yet, they wouldn't pull a model until they got ready to announce a new one to replace it.

I'm not following on the bitz system. I was trying to get the boxed set of 5 Coks and she couldn't order them.

Ya, it sucks. I'm debating whether or not I'm gonna wait for the new models. I would like another unit, but the new ones look so shmexy, and I would rebuy the three units anyways...

I wonder why you can't get them. Try another store, perhaps?

I don't think a picture of the finished model is anywhere to be seen by the unprivileged lot, but at least here is a picture of just the cold one.

Personally, I couldn't wait for new ones but I'm not a fan on the current ones eithes, so I just got me some of the gamezone lizards (as seen here).

Those are alright, deffinatly better than the current ones. But I still think that the new ones are gonna look cooler. But that's just me, to each his own I guess...

The reason you can't get the 5-model boxed sets anymore is probably because there won't be 5-model sets. My guess is that they'll change the packing, maybe even adding more models (8 seems to be a favoured number), and release them with the new army.

However, there will not be new Knight Models. The Cold One we have seen is for our heroes only.

I'm sure the new Knights are gonna be cool; I might or might not purchase new knights. I love the current ones already, and if I'm not OVERLY impressed I might just keep the ones I already have.

Although if they are wonderfully done, I might just get some new ones. After all, I bought Dark Elves almost purely for fluff and models.

Nagathi, Are you sure about that? THe new Cold One doesnt look much like the old ones... but meh, I could see GW doing that for a little extra money

I have it from very reliable sources (I know you've heard that before, but you can chose to trust me or not) that there will not be many new units for Dark Elves. GW wants all core units for all armies in plastic, so my educated guess would be that we get plastic Corsairs. Aside from that, Dark Elf models are among the best Citadel has ever produced. If the Asur failed to get any new models (aside from those 5th ed looking Shadow Warriors), don't think us Druchii will.

However, Asur got A LOT of new character models, while still having one of the biggest ranges of character models before their update. Us Druchii have 2-3 character models in total. We will get loads of new ones (I expect fighter kit, sorc kits, and possibly assassins too, depending on their new rules and equipment - maybe they'll get something to use that BS9 now?). The Cold One we have seen is for those characters, not for new knights.

Trust me if you want. I trust my sources in high places ;)

And note the greater detail and more "things" on it. Typically character mount. Almost all character mounts of the same "type" as regular knights have something special about them - except the Druchii Cold Ones and Dark Steeds. AFAIK, only us Druchii have exact copies of our unit mounts for our characters.

First off Nag, I trust your sources, thats what has me so worried!

Also, the issue I have with the plans for no new cold ones for the knights is though the new one is all shiny and forgive my phrase but, "Pimped Out", if you take away all the extras it still doesnt look anything like the old cold ones. If they do indeed let this one out of its cage ONLY in a hero box it will look incredibly ridiculous with the rest of the cold ones in a unit. True that horses and such are different but they still have the same style to them while this new cold one does not.

What I believe is possible is that they are going to repackage the old Cold One Knights and then sell them with the new cold ones. They would still make a horrendous profit and it only seems right to do. Though the other problem is with the chariots as the new mount wouldnt look right... H'mm perhaps you are correct :(

As for talk of our new book and new models, at this points its simply :badh: because its to late to do anything about it now ^^

Well, we have been though several cold ones already and a plasitc CoK with new rules makes a degree of sense.

But consider this, new nimble looking COs and no sign of a new DR. drop the current DR from core and have a new multi kit that lest you do DR or CoK on the new mounts maybe ?

Other than that shift shades to core as in CoS list and maybe add a plastic shade/corsair box - but that is uneccessary. unless they want an all plastic core.

New plasic chariot, hero kit and hydra completes the revamp

There is nothing wrong with BG, exes, witches or manti. so its a revamp of everything that needs changing while making the army much more distinct.

edit: alternately keep the current CO as CO and have these new ones as a replacement for dark steeds. the psoibiluites are almost endless....

I think the Beastmaster who rides the Manti is Ugly as all get out and looks Dumb as hell.

I have heard form 2 people with very good sources now 2 completely different things concerning CoK.

1) Keeping the ones we have.

2) getting an all plastic kit of CoK that come 8 to a box.

of course there are the variants on this theme.

3) Getting new lizzies keeping old metal knights

4) Fancy lizzie we saw was for hero box only and we keeping the cows.

5) Fancy lizze was for hero box and we getting sligtly less fancy version for CoK mounts with or without new plastic Knights

6) The knights will be the same as the old ones only made of plastic

7) The Knights will be multi-piece plastic so they can be glued together in multiple poses with interchangable body parts for greater customization. Which when combined with the elimination of the bitz system as we knew it means that converters end up spending even MORE cash than before buying multiple $35 boxes of plastic troops to build their unique looking units.

As far as my sources have told me, only a snigle unit is getting new models - and that is Corsairs. Swapping the plastic Coldies for the Knights could be a possibility, but I doubt it. Also, I fail to see how much different this new cold one is compared to the rest. Sure, this one have more things attached to it, but it's still a fat cow-lizard with fangs and claws underneath.

I like the look of the new Cold Ones. It would be great if we got new knights as well.

So no new dark riders then, eh?

What about the character models, what new we will get? Can you give any hints about the upcoming models?

We Don't Need new Plastic DR.... We can Buy Glade Riders and use Left over RXB bits from the Warriors box and Left over heads too if you want your DR to have Druchii helms. Personally I like the ponytails on the Glade riders. To make the spears more Druchii you can put left over warrior spear arms on them also.

I would Like to see new Dark Riders Plastic... and i have heard plenty of Rumors that we will be getting Plastic DR.

GW is all about Profit. New Models encourage players to buy whole new armies becuase the new models are so sweet. Plastic is cheaper than pewter to manufacture. The new Plastic they use is stronger than the old stuff (I haven't broken off nearly as many weapons through careless transport) The new molding techniques they use allow so much more fine detail in plastic without the annoying flashes on the pewter.

Pewter is a toxic substance that you spend all day filing and sanding and then holding while you paint it etc... I bet 75% of the gamers out there DONT wash their hands before eating or drinking and dont wear a dust mask when cleaning their work bench. This is a Lead Alloy we work with and most of us are reaching into the Cheetos bag with the same hand that just held the model while filing flash off. With the increasingly litigious nature of humanity I'm sure GW is transitioning form pewter models hoping to avoid class action lawsuits from parents who's kids started acting stupid and blame the lead that the kids handle playing warhammer.

I can't say much as I've mostly talked about the new rules.
However, since we have so few character models, and they're almost exclusively special characters (aside from the sorc on Cold one, sorc on foot and beastmaster), we will get a whole lotta new stuff methinks. The sorc models are old (5th ed mostly, the sorc on foot is from 5th at least). I predict a complete revamp of our characters. Everything will be renewed (save the spec chars, possibly).
