¿No more sea dragon cloak?
After having a look at the new pictures of corsairs it seems that we are going to lose the benefits of sea dragon cloack. I don't believe that we can use a core unit with a 3+ AS in Hth (sh + ha +sdc). ¿Don't you thinks so?

I think that by taking the shield you'll get a decent tarpit unit but you'll be missing out on the multiple attacks of two hand weapons and the nifty repeater xbow pistols
maybe the SDC will only add +1 vs shooting too or (horror) will be identical to White Lion cloaks, so we'll want the shield for close combat

If you fall off the boat in icy northern waters you're better off drowning than freezing to death <.<
Dwarf core troops have 3+ armour save in combat
Chaos warriors have 3+ armour save in combat (2+ if chosen)
so it's not too far fetched.

I'm willing to guess that the "shields" writing is incorrect. We have no sign of shields in any of the pictures AND it just doesn't fit the fluff IMO.

I'm merely skeptical because there is no pictures and no rumor has said they are getting shields.
We have had rumors of handbows, raider rule, bunch of other stuff like 100 VP for catching enemies etc... nothing about shields.

Actually, drowning is short but painfull, freezing is a bit longer, but quite painless, you just go numb and fade away. Guess it's up to personal opinion what is nicer.
As for the topic at hand, I think it's clear the corsair models have SDCs, but whatever the benefits from the cloak is, I can't say. They changed the High Elf lion cloak, didn't they, so it's likely that something might have changed with the SDC too.
3+ AS for T3 troops isn't really all that good, it's just a points cost question. For 7 points it's dirtcheap, for 16 it's useless.
Cheers

I don't know about drowning (have you tried it? <.<) but I've had a few frostburns in my life and they were pretty painful.
And if SDC turns Lion Cloak... I'll just drop corsairs and keep using cheaper warriors for not so much worse save...

Maybe they'll get shields, but the picture portrais them with two hand weapons. The chances are that you'll either equip them with shield, or with two hand weapons as shown here. I surely hpe the sea dragon cloak stays the same as it was. I always liked the fact that it was better than lion cloak :p.
Still, if you freeze to death in cold water, you'll die because you can't stay afloat, and you'll drown...

KILL!!!
The corsairs DO have light armours, just look at the models, they're covered with armour!
I think that the shield option is true. They just can't write something like that from out of nowhere to the White Dwarf. Ok, they have had minor mistakes before, but this can't be a mistake.
Why would they change the rules for SDCs? Come on, this is GW we are talking about. When they release new models, they will give them super-rules because they want us to buy all the models we can. Remember the basic rules for business?
Let's not start being negative just yet. We will get the rules pretty soon, and I believe that corsairs will be good!

Kheirakh, Dark Alliance has said multiple times to not believe everything in the pamphlet, thats enough for me to believe shields aren't coming. It makes no sense because are you really gonna take Spearelves over 3+/3+ save corsairs? Not unless they are a lot cheaper. Plus shields make no sense on a ship-ship raid.
I'm in Dark Alliance's boat. (Haha, get it?)

Another thing, where are people getting this crap about Great weapons. The picture says "dual handed weapons".
Dual handed weapons are GW's. Halberds are dual handed, two hand weapons are dual handed, bows are dual handed, RXB's dual handed, those Glade guard fighting staves are dual handed. Pike dual handed etc...
Classic case of reading what you want to see not what is really there.
Corsairs will not have GW's. The option is not available on their sprue. Two hand weapons yes, but not GW's.
Unless of course Games Workshop releases models with different rules than the brand new plastic indicates, and we all know that doesn't happen. Anymore....
