Post by Kinslayer »

Definitely looks a bit out of place. I personally don't like this whole squid theme they're forcing upon the Corsairs.

exactly, perhaps GW would have been better off giving mr squidface to the zombie pirates and leaving the dark elf corsairs as druchiifaces or whatever ;) i will have to wait til i see the model myself or at least a better picture than the tiny spearhead shot, but im seriesly unimpressed so far by the idea

Ya definitely, because the first ever pirate with a squid theme was Pirates of the Caribean... GrrrRAWWWR

I'll leave it up to how the model looks and the fluff.

hmm.. i've been pretty unimpressed with the idea right from the start. The concept of a corsair special character is great, but so far the squid theme and the spearhead pic don't impress me.

Putting the squid theme to one side for a moment (I agree that it is a pretty poor rendition of an otherwise good idea...), as a character it is a good move by GW. His rules are good, he is relatively inexpensive imo and he has decent rules.

I think he will be used quite a lot as he offers the opportunity to capitalise on the raider theme.

we don't know if his head will be a seperate piece or just part of the body and, in the second case, how hard it will be to cut it off

Jewelers saw anyone. Personally I like the look and I think it would be all in how you paint him.
Always look for the knife from the shadows.

Wait a minute, how do you hide a +2 flaming longsword in the shadows?

I think he's cool. If you don't like Pirates of the Caribean, associate it with Call of Cthulhu. I do that and like it hehe.

i didn't say i don't like it i just don't like the way GW managed to f*cking screw up a great idea (again) *calms down* i really liked the idea when i first heard of it but now i've seen the model... naa aaaah! (ok might be becouse of the picture being pretty bad).

so i really like the idea just not the model as far as i've seen him

Yeah I dont like it either... and actually I dont like the new corsair look that much either - it doesn't really fit with the whole "clean and flowy" druchii style i think...

Yeah, to be perfectly honest, I just don't tend to associate the squid aesthetic I've seen so far to POTC. Cthulu and Lovecraft comes to mind first, which is probably why it doesn't bother me much.

I like the squid theme too.......maybe some black ark corsairs have met a big kraken and they were impressed by such a powerful creature.

About Lokhir I still think he looks like a scarecrow
and about his rules....ranking and persue could be (are?) useful I guess 8)

but I never play with special characters...

Same here. Amongst my gaming group, there's generally a bit of a stigma against the use special characters, as your honor (and manhood) suddenly come into question if you do. ;)

Sea Dragon would have been a bit more manly than Squid... but hey, at least he doesn't have a whale face, or shrimp, or even a big lobster claw coming out of his forehead.

I'll wait to see the Lokhir Zoidberg model up close to determine if I like it or not
