Thats really very annoying. I was going to put my sorceress on a steed and put malus darkblade on the mount.

Why do they do this when anyone with half a brain would immediately say "no way" if it was suggested. :x

This was my exact plan as well. Piss. Guess I'll be converting the Mounted Sorceress to a Mounted BSB with Hydra Banner after all...

I'll likely be going this route myself. I'm excited to get my spearhead. I love the 6th edition metal range and in fact currently, I only use plastic for dark steeds. However, releasing a sorcess model with that is fused to a cold one is blisteringly bad judgment. Its one thing to encourage conversions its quite another to virtually require them. This is a disappointment certainly. I foresee several work arounds but really why is it necessary to fuse the sorceress to a stupid mount? The price is set at $20.00 USD for one figure that requires major surgery it is unfortunate.

argh why would they do something as stupid as sculpting the Cold One Sorceress like that?

They know players do not want Cold One Sorceress' on Cold Ones but they do it anyway!

I wanted to put the new Sorceress on a Dragon and a Dark Steed myself.

Maybe I'm being a little harsh on our previous ranges, Masterofdarkness, and I have no word against the new plastic kits. It's just that before we had nothing to convert with, and when the other early races are getting their lords by the 2 in plastic kits, we're still getting them in metal. Much harder to convert.

I for one enjoy converting, and it's a lot easier with plastic. The slayer sword winner at the Canada Games Day last month was a high elf mage conversion made completely from plastic - and it was awesome. Take a look yourself:

It's just so pissy that we can't get plastic kits like that. What we do get in metal is nice, but it's just such a pain to convert them.

Well, I definitely prefer metal, though the fused legs and the ugly Dreadlord head are certainly not necessary.

That HE conversion doesn't even look that impressive to me... the painting surely is (especially the awesome cloak), but the model itself? Maybe it's just too high-elvish. ;)

Just got back from getting mine.

The hydra is a lovely sculpt with a choice of two tails. There is loads of scope for head swapping and neck bending so I dont see why two should ever loom the same.

The plastic sprues are the best I have ever seen. The cold one knight sprue is the real star with loads of options (2 banners) extra lances 2 extra heads. The detail on the plastics is extremely fine and I can say with confidence that these are as good if not better than metals.

The hero character legs are welded to the metal cold ones and dont expect to see cold ones sold separately in the near future. They and the knights are on the same sprue.

The book is very impressive loads of new stuff to look at. Not much to reveal that hasnt already been posted except:

The manticore got 10pts more expensive
The Dark pegasus got 5 pts cheaper.
Cold one mounts cost more
SDC's are cheaper.
The enchanted shield went up by 5 points but the sword of might went doen by the same amount.

All in all a lot of shuffling about!

Lokhir can join any unit. Not just corsairs.
The Dark rider champ is still expensive but gets a boost to his A & BS
You can carry as many null talismans as your magic allowance permits but they cannot be distributed throughout your army (unlike thiefstones IIRC)

Perhaps, perhaps, but it shows that a lot can be done with plastic.

Is that so? Well Then, that could compensate for something. I'll definitely be getting some of them. BTW, what's the Strength of the Knights themselves? Is it really 4?[/b]

I'm a little annoyed that they would fuse the hero legs to the cold ones. I had planned on putting my sorceress on a dark steed and putting my old Malus model on her cold one. I'll still be able to do it. It will just be a total pain in the ass.

And they even announced that they were made so you could put it on any Dark elf mount you wanted to have them on! *RAGE*

Hm....I created a sorceress on a flying saucer some time ago to adress precisely this issue - green stuff for the skirt, did not even have to change her feet. Image

So basically what we're saying is that the sculptors also failed their stupidity check...

Which is another reason they don't need an ASF-banner.

I also noticed that you get an extra knight torso on the COK sprue. I can combine this with the Bret pegasus knight sprue I have been saving and have a nicely converted Master on pegasus in no time.

I love it when a plan comes together.

All i need now is a pair of lady legs to go with my sorceress torso. Any ideas anyone?

Oh I have that sprue non-touched and ready as well. Will fit better on my peggy than a Cold one Knight tssk.

The only spare legs I have lying around are the legs of a wild rider. However, they do have kinda a skirt and elves are pretty androgynous when it comes to structural build that it might work.

If I may say, the new model range sounds sweet but the Sorceress on the Cold One thing is stupidity on the part of GW design team. For god's sake, not even a Black Orc with no brain matter would put a Sorceress on a Cold One! And as for metal models, I've never been a fan...6th Ed was mean to us :(

IMO they should have released the dreadlord/master on a cold one (rider one part, steed another), and the sorceress on a dark steed (rider one part, steed another).

This gives us
- a new dark steed model
- seperate sorceress and noble so easy to change mounts
- 2 better metal kits we are more likely to want

This gives GW
- people will buy both models in most cases, so they get money
- people may buy sorceress multiple times just for the steed, so they get more money
- and last but not least, satisfied customers!!

Those words... cna you use them together?

"satisifed customer"

Is that even a real concept!

Makes lots of sense. Total shame that you didn't get the folks in sales together with the developers/sculptors. Missed opportunity yet again. At least the new list seems to be such an improvement that the model releases can have some head scratchers amongst them without ruining things.

Well by this time most of the Druchii players will have converted sorcs and all the likes.. But what about new players? GW and their brainfarts...

I might try out a Sorceress on CO now.

Just for the heck of it.

Just got mine! Went into the local GW for the new 40k book and the manager pointed me to where they'd put their allocated two (2!) DE spearheads out as soon as they got them. I would guess the other one's gone by now as well.
