Sorry if asking this is against the rules but i would very much like to know.

I could see it being DREW-chee or DREW-kai
please let me know, i have a phobia about mispronouncing words.

I've always used your first pronunciation, but given that GW has never provided a pronunciation guide (to my knowledge), knock yourself out.

And welcome to the forum.

Actually it is pronounced as Droo - Ki - Eye ;)

Ehh its the same old thing with the chaos gods, pronounce it how you think it is pronounced cause I can almost guarantee that it will be different among regions and zones, if you are really curious just ask how the people in your local club pronounce it.

Ive always said Droochee. ''Droo'' like in drool, ''chee'' like cheese.
But henceforth Ill use the pronounciation ''Droo-ki-eye'' because it sounds better IMO.
Or perhaps ''Droo-ki-yay''... Probably the last one. Im gonna have to ponder this for afew days.

EDIT: This turned out to be a good debate subject so I wont say its a *newbie* question. Anyway please try to keep such terms to a minimum.

I thought it was DREW-CHEE-EYE. But it seems now it's more like DREW-KI. The best way of confirming it would be by asking the person who created the name 'Druchii' - he/she would know. Now how that's gonna happen is another question although i'd hope someone on the forum knows the creator...You could ask Jervis Johnson if you were really desperate - that would make for an intersting article.

That is all well and good, however we are Druchii and we want Man and Traitorous Elves to suffer alike.

well the only time something made by/with games workshop has pronounced it is in mark of chaos, where Lileath the sorceress gets called Druchii (drew ki) by the high elf sorceress Aurelion.

so therefore i will use that. Plus dru ki eye sounds wierd to me.

Obviously there are many regional accents.
My own pronunciation is:
drü - she - ee
(with a French u = German ü)

I think it largely depends on what language you're using as a reference. If we're using Latin as our rule base, I believe it would be pronounced "DROO-kee-EYE". Which, yes, is uncomfortably cloose to DOO-kee... and, I don't know if this is true anywhere else outside of the States, but here it means "poopoo", "caca", or "doo doo".

I originally pronounced it DROO-chee... which is quite incorrect. Even so, I often fall back to this pronunciation in casual conversation around people who also tend to pronounce it that way.

One of the Druchii regiments (I think its the highborn on foot) has a phrase with Druchii in it, pronounced as Drew-Ki-Eye. This is also the pronunciation in upcoming WAR.

ps. I also thought it was Drew-Chi until about a year ago.

I doubt that an official pronounciation was created until it was needed, tbh.

Personally I prefer Drew-chi because it harmonic and less like I'm mis-pronouncing something else. It also sounds more insidious and less military which, again, I prefer.

To each their own imo.

I prefer Drew-chee. I have never heard anyone pronounce it any other way around here.
I am not sure why chii would be pronounced as kai. Other wise it would be spelt Drukai

I've always pronounced it as Dru-kai.

That's why people consider English to be a really hard language to learn because it isn't always logical like other languages.

Dark Elven is a harsh language, with sharp sounds .:. DROOK-EYE. DROOSHEE and DROOCHEE are too human-esque and don't suit the cold, harsh, unforgiving Druchii language. oh and people can we please GET OVER THIS TOPIC?!?!?? someone get onto the inventor of the word "Druchii" and sort it out once and for all!!!
::EDIT:: may I point out: the general consensus is that Dru is pronounced DROO. Next we have the CH. This can be pronounced like a normal CH or hard like a K. the II is similar to the latin ii but could also be pronounced like the i in cacti. therefore it's either:
DROOCHEE
DROOCHEYE
DROOKEYE
DROOKEE
And since we're talking about a harsh, unforgiving language with sharp sounds then it's pretty much narrowed down to DROOKEYE or DROOKEE. And DROOKEE sounds gay and puncy. but I'm not here to make your decisions for you, nor should I, so make up your own minds. oh and can someone contact the inventor of the word "Druchii" so we can sort this out once and for all?

So in that case we can now with great certainty say that out of all possible ways of pronouncing Druchii, Drew-She is definately not the correct one ;)

I'm pretty sure this is the correct way mate, or GW would of him told otherwise to start saying it the right way, which they haven't. So we can deduce that he is saying the correct way.

But this is all a matter of interpretation.

Paul Barnett is a clown, great for making enthousiastic speeches about how great WAR will be, less great for anything else including accurate information.

Here is a mythic developer post, and this pronunciation is also used in WAR beta: http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showpost.php?p=941259&postcount=67
