GT heat 2, how did the Druchii do?
Hey everyone, now that heat 2 of the GT has ended I just wanted to know how everyone did, and what lists had good success.
Was Kairos everywhere again, or did the druchii dominate this time?
Also did everyone have a good time?

Can't remember exactly but first 6 or so armies were:
Daemon Host
Daemon Host
Daemon Host
Daemon Host
Daemon Host
Daemon Host
so yeah... not sure about if they were Kairos lists, didn't really pay too much attention to other tables around me <.< I do know that there were a few two-headed Lords of Change flying around but that's not neccessarily Kairos
I ended up 12th (would be 8th if not for my opponent's incredible luck in last game)
And there was another Dark Elf army on place 9 or 10

only know that second one was pretty unorthodox with only 2 heralds for heroes and packed with units.
As said, didn't pay much attention to armies other than my opponents... can't be distracted! <.<

And that single daemon army I had to face happened to be PURE KHORNE ANTI-MAGIC HORROR >.<
with my 8 levels of magic...
byt the end of the game my level 4 was level 2, my level 2 was level 1 and my other level 2 was dead... all from miscasts I did myself!
I still won though
Bloodthirsted became a pincussion suffering around 30 RxB shots per turn.

yep. when it lost its 1st wound on turn 1 I decided to keep at it and made it die on turn 5. each and every single wound dealt to it by repeater crossbow from either dark riders or shades

I was really at loss what to do with my hydras against his bloodthirster... and extremely surprised when he decided not to charge them both when I put them side by side... my only hope was do deal its remaining 3 wounds with a single hydra, doable but hard.

I think I wrote a tactic article on the benefits of the repeaterXbow a long time ago. Before bloodthirsters ever were spawned. Maybe I should revise it.
While running a million dollar company, singing at weddings, and his frequent jetting to Spain Elton Jon style, Dark Alliance found the time to stand on the doorstep of Games Workshop like Moses and the Pharoah and calmly state, "Let my people go."

Kairos is amazingly awesome in combat. He has 1 attack at about WS1 or so, and S5
3+ ward save and can never be wounded better than on 3+
And good luck catching him with anything ever.
Just ignore him, make sure his spells are affected by RoH and kill him army.

mmm, interesting heat 2
Norther Warlords Results
Tom Hall, 5 wins, one loss - 5th Deamons
Keith Wilkinson, 4 wins 2 draws - 8th Deamons
Anthony Spiers (me), 4 wins 2 draws 10th - Dark Elves
Well done to all the lads only one game lost between the three of us !!
The scenarios were certainly unforgiving and THREE table quarter games were a nightmare. There scenarios enables wins to come out of nothing, their opponants had them clearly beat then some crap dice and its all over in the final turn for a draw. I know our lads will be tweaking their lists so this cannot happen in the final.
Out of our 18 games happened to me and keith both once each.
Game 1 - orcs, table quarters won
Game 2 - orion wood elves , objectives won
Game 3 - kipper masque deamons, table quarters draw in turn 6 after a dister of two turns failing to cause a single wound !!
Game 4 - manfred vampire counts, table quarters won
Game 5 - skull taker bloodthirster deamons annhilation won
Game 6 - 4 x flesh hound unit, double flamer deamons, draw
Learning curves from the heat -
Kipper + masque + LD banner is brutal unless your immune to psychology, terror checks etc become so tactiacally effective, with siren songs too is a real challenge
When a combat deamon army sets up and plays for a draw in objectives your struggling. Fires off its entire combat force straight at your lines you have to deal with it, they take so long to wipe out that they take all your turns up. If your army is then not fast enough to get accros the whole battle field you can do nothing but draw. This is the bit where my army will be seriously tweaked.
Playing vamps in either objectives or table quarters you just cannot let them go second!! If they have any vampires left in turn 6 your going to struggle to get anything better than a draw. The raise the dead spell was game breaking on so so many occasions.
10th Position dark Elf army f anyone is interested -
Dreadlord, dark steed, H/A, SDC, shield,. Heart seeker, potion of strength, pendant
BSB, H/A, SDC, soul render 2 x null talismans (which were not used even once)
L1 wizard 2 x scrolls
2 x 10 RXB warriors, shields
5 x DR RXB
18 Witch Elves, std banner of murder, assassin hand of khaine, add h/w
12 black guard, champ, ring of hotek, std hag graef
7 shades great weapons
War Hydra
2 x reapers
My opponants were all sound, bar Tristana, James Ramsay seriously rode his luck!!!!
Well done to the newly 'transformed' Tristana finishing second and wish her luck in the final, where I hope she will bring a slightly more tasteful hand bag that matches her outfit !!
Anthony
