The best kit for the job (Manticore rider)

Post by Ravenwatch »

Hello all I'm back again to ask a few questions about a manticore rider I want to include in my army.

-First am I better off going with a master or dreadlord?
-Second what is the best kit for killing big stuff? (Ogres mostly...)
-Third what is the worst stuff to expect to be used against me and how should I counter it?

If you have an answer to one or all it is appreciated and you will further advance to glory of Dark Elf kind.

I don't have any experience with the manticore but I think this could prove usefull http://www.druchii.net/viewtopic.php?t=61239&highlight=

It depend how much hero slot You want to spend on it.

-Second what is the best kit for killing big stuff? (Ogres mostly...)

I think that is lord on foot with executioner's axe and blood armor. You can 'teleport' him with shadow magic 1 spell so he can be in combat in 1 turn of game.

-Third what is the worst stuff to expect to be used against me and how should I counter it?

If You take manticore there will be big problem with all shooting things. It's very soft monster with T5 and no save. You can try to protect it with 'ring of darknes'.

There is also the Hag Graef SDC for half S ranged attacks, though I am kitting mine out with the 1+ armor and the KB lance for tons of KB on the charge and a couple of Null Talismans.

My preference for such a fragile model is to load up on it's strengths, so i use;

Master, Dreadlance, Armour of Darkness, Manticore = 330
Best Regards, Comrade Igor.

There are only two builds worth to be played, in my opinion.

1st one:
Master, RXB, Armour of Darkness, Deathpiercer, Manticore = 340 pts.
I think it's the same posted by Comrade Igor. It worth two heroes choices.

2st one:
DreadLord, SDC, RXB, Armour of Eternal Servitude, Pendant of Khaeleth, Deathpiercer, Enchanted Shield = 456 pts.
It's very effective, an huge strike. I think he's great and he's fairly indestructable. But I don't think he's so cost-effective.

I had already tested the Master and It's worth testing.

you are taking there two magic armours so the second option is invalidated.

Problem with the Cloak of Hag Graef is that it does nothing to protect the Manticore, which will be soaking up 2/3 ranged atatcks.

I use the same kit you that you do -- Deathpiercer, Armor of Darkness, and 2 Null Talismans. I also will take a ranged weapon -- either a Repeater Crossbow or a pair of Handbows depending on my points situation.

Sorry! I think a Null Shard is a good replacement.
