Manticore

Post by Askador »

Greetings everyone.

I just got a nice Chaos Manticore and building a Darkelve Rider for the model. But i have no idea how to use it.

Anyone here has some exp. using a Manticore Charakter? You play them as Master or Dreadlord mount?
You think the upgrades are usefull? Iron skins seems to be nice.

How do you use him? I guess he is alot more in danger then a peg lord when it comes to shooting.

What equip you prefer on the Lord or Master on a Manticor?

That would sound awesome if you have other monsers nearby. But Hydras and Kharybdis are much slower.. it would not happen that often to have them all together.

I'd go for a Dreadlord setup that works well on foot, as the Manti is easy to cut out from under him/her.

i.e. ToP, Charmed Shield, Obsidian Blade or Ogre Blade, Black Amulet

As for the Manti itself, I'd make full use of its mobility to choose combats. Thunderstomp and KB are good positives, but have to be employed wisely. Avoid anything that can grind at S5+ unless you are confident of breaking it on the charge.

I have a list I run with a Dreadlord on Dragon and my BSB on a Manticore. I prefer to have my lord on a dragon. The stats are better, and the 3+ AS, followed by the breath weapon are just too superior.

IMO, the manticore is best used by a master. However, if this ends up working for you, please let me know what your build is.

For my dreadlord on dragon I use the following: ogre blade, talisman of preservation, ToTS

If you are running two characters on flying monsters I would put the Master on the Manticore. Manticore can too easily get chopped or shot out from underhim making it a less reliable character delivery vihicle than a dark peg or dragon. Just my two cents.

Yeah i had 2 games with him now and he never seen close combat. Its a bit sad that Charaters riding huge monsters dont work in this edition. My Peg lord would laugh at the shots killed the Manticor.
