Dreadlord and dragon query

Post by zen »

What is the best load out for a Dreadlord on a dragon?

Mainly for playing against WoC, wood elves and dark elves.
Anything but a one... It's a one!

But I've got a reroll... OK that's a one too!!

A nice load out is Armour of Destiny with Dawnstone. Plus full mundane armour.
4++ with rerollable 1+. Still points to drop in a magic weapon or potion. Quite a common build for a reason.

Or you could look to utilise Cloak of Twilight, potion of strength and a mundane or magic weapon for a hard hitting charge.

If you can fit a charmed shield in, that is also invaluable.

What do you plan to run alongside, any other flyers at all as support?

What Amboadine said.

It can be worth trying to get the ironcurse pendant in there - for that 6+ ward for both dragon and rider versus enemy cannons and bolt throwers. Consider a Magic Resistance item too, to reduce the threat of enemy magic missiles.

Personally i like armor of destiny and ogre blade or armor of 5++ one and giant blade if you use the second one I protect him best I can but if he dies you almost automatically lose a little risk reward
This was my third army my other armies are
3200 points of dwarfs
3000 of tomb kings
About 3000 of this but it will be 4000 after Christmas
And 2500 Orcs and Goblins

Just one note on @Amboadine's otherwise perfect comments - I don't think you can take the Cloak and the Potion of Strength together as they're both "Enchanted Items". I was going for the two of them with a lance, but was pulled up on it for this reason! A shame, as the power of the combination was genius.

This is what happens when you try and post from memory after not playing for a month or so. You are correct.

OT: It's a damn shame! I was trying to write my army list in the absolute middle of nowhere (Ukraine border) with the iPad Druchii army book and a screenshot of the "common magic items" list, and when I thought of the combination I went marching around the hotel at 1am, and got shouted at by my wife for nearly waking our daughter giggling at the sheer power of it all... and then... back down to earth again!
