Warlocks and End times magic

Post by Deadsun »

Thought I would initiate bit of a deeper discussion of use of Doomfire Warlocks in light of the send times magic phase as well as part of a elven Host list with much greater competition for rare points.

We know that warlocks know all death and all dark, and end times magic the bonuses +1 to cast from each successive rank become more useful. Unquestionably they are a potent unit in the end times and something most of us are likely to take in our armies. This said how much do the rules changes for magic and the elven hosts lists alter things; how useful are they really at various sizes of unit? what do we think the optimum size of this unit in end times battles? And what dies the addition of other rare options from other rare lists mean for them as a must take unit?

Including warlocks and a Shadow Supreme is extremely dominant. At least in my group, we play that if a spell is dispelled you cannot attempt to cast it again. With the synergy between these three lores, you are almost guaranteed to get a nasty combo on a key unit, even if it's just debuffs and not a super damaging one. Glorious.

End Times magic pretty much makes Doomfire Warlocks and Sisters of the Thorn the best wizards in game on a point per effectiveness scale.

Warlocks can PoD themselves to incredible strength at little to no loss of PD (as long as the PD allowance is rolled high enough)
Sisters can do the same with Wyssan's Wildform to increase not only their T but also the strength of their poisoned javelin shots.

If either unit takes losses, Sisters can regrow them.

And Dark Elf fast cavalry was already nasty, now it is horrible to face :P

Don't forget that you can include 2 of each in your army now :O :O

Nope, you can have 3 units of Sisters, they're a special choice.

100% fast cavalry force is now perfectly viable and looks something like this:

Dark/Glade/Ellyrian - core with various roles (they're different enough to warrant it)

Sisters/Warhawks/Wild - special with various roles

Warlocks - rare

Sprinkle in some characters for flavor and you have an incredibly tough army (I'd say tougher than the netlist of 8 reapers)
