Coming back to 9th ed from a LONG time (disliked 8th ed and got horrified by AoS) what are good Lord/Hero character builds in 9th ed and wich units they have best synergies with?

Blood Armour combined with Whip of Subversion is amazing for any combat hero/lord for 50 points total

get it while it lasts - that whip of subversion is a bit OP. 40pts would usually just get you an ogre blade! having said that, blood armour and an ogre blade is pretty cool. add a dawnstone for 30pts... add an enchanted shield to start off at 3+ armour save.
