2500 points, second ever list

Post by Avian »

Hi,
Having aranged a "swap armies" battle with a friend of mine (my Orcs for his Dark Elves) here's the list I made. Having only played with the army once before I don't know if it's any good and I'd appreciate your input.

Characters

1 High Sorceress, lvl 4
-Tome of Furion
-Seal of Ghrond
-Dispel Scroll
-Lifetaker

1 Noble
-Additional Hand Weapon
-Heavy armour
-Sea Dragon Cloak
-Deathmask

1 Sorceress, lvl 2
-Black Staff

1 Noble
-Sword of Might
-Repeater crossbow
-Armour of Darkness
-Dark Steed

Core

24 Corsairs
-Reaver, Standard, Musician
-Standard of Slaughter
*joined by Noble*

25 Corsairs
-Reaver, Standard, Musician

12 Warriors
-Repeater crossbow
-Shield

12 Warriors
-Repeater crossbow
-Shield

5 Dark Riders
-Repeater crossbow
-Musician
*joined by other Noble*

6 Dark Riders
-Musician

Special

14 Witch Elves
Hag, Standard, Musician
Dance of Doom
War Banner

14 Witch Elves
Hag, Standard, Musician
Witchbrew

6 Shades
Light armour

I don't know what he'll be taking (he might take some squigs, even though I tried to discourage him), but it will probably be infantry heavy.

Thanks for your time,
Avian

Give your 2nd sorceress darkstar cloak and a dispel scroll. Give your high sorceress crown of black iron instead of seal of ghrond and drop the dispel scroll
Don't put the noble with the dark riders, you could either put him in the 2nd unit corsairs, or you could drop the rxbmen and a unit witch elves to get a unit COKs and put hi in there, also put him on a CO.
And drop armour of darkness, it really isn't worth it. Especially not when your noble is mounted, cause he can get a better save with normal armour
And give your corsairs warbanner instead of banner of slaughter

*counts on talons*
Steed: 6+
Heavy armour: 4+
Sea Dragon Cloak: 3+
Enchanted Shield: 1+

Ack, you are correct, what a useless piece of equipment.

I'm not taking any Cold Ones; I know how good they are, I know what works against them, and he knows I know.
Besides, I want to keep this a light raiding force.

Even with a normal shield you'll have a 2+ save. ANd when you're on a CO a 1+ with just mundane equipment

I think you should go for Magic OR Fightin´Characters. Not both. Switch your two Nobles for more Sorceresses (many s:es). Destoy him with Magic or Hack him to piecies with some great weapon instead.

I prefer not to put my trust in magic and fighters will not save me by themselves, not against orcs. I prefer a more balanced approach.

With almost the entire Lore of Shadows and a few Death missiles I should hopefully be able to thin his numbers before combat and a couple of fighters are neccesary for combat.

Just got a list of the models I'm supposed to bring:
-2 shamans
-Hero on foot
-Battle Standard
-30 orc boyz
-30 big 'uns
-25 savage boyz
-24 arrer boyz
-3x 20 common goblins
-3 chariots
-3x 5 wolf riders
-giant
-pump wagon

1 lvl4 and 1 lvl2 is enough for a magic heavy army.
