Mounted Heroes in an Aggressive Cavalry army

Post by Giles the zog »

I am seeking advice on building heroes, and Lords for a game tomorrow - a re-run of my very successful and highly aggresive 5k army from a fortnight ago.

I will be fielding a dreadlord on Manticore maxed out.

That said, I currently have several CoK conversions being finished off on the paint table:

- a second sorceress on cold one
- Malus Darkblade (well no change there)
- a CoK knight with dragonette on arm (the old metal one)
- a CoK knight ponced up on new Cold One, with lance
- a conversion with sword and RXB on new Cold One.
- a conversion with sword.

Suggestions for builds for
- the Sorceress (suggest Lvl3 Supreme Sorceress option)
- CoK Knight with dragonette (BDE ?)
- CoK Knight with sword and RXB

Sadly at the moment, I have only one CoK unit of 10 for them to ride with.
I do have a BSB on cold one, so in theory, if I fielded all of them I might get away with two units of ~8 (?) but I'm not happy with this.

The enemy is Greenskins.
I intend to throw a Bladewind or two at them as they have large units.

Currently, I am not using ANY magic items from the DE magic items list. So things like then Ring of Hotek do appeal to me.

The rest of the army will roughly be composed of:
- Hyrdas 1 or 2 depending
- 2 x CoK Chariots
- 2 x10 Dark Riders
-1 x10 Warlocks
- 30 Spearmen with hero and magic standard (+1 M)
- !0 Shades
- 10 Mengil Manhides
- at least 10 RXBs
- Eric
- 2-3 Sorceresses armed with the usual dispel, feedback scrolls, power stones etc.

My tactic is to put the entire army down the enemy's throat in turn 2, with as many augment spells as possible and totally annihalte them even faster than I did last time.
I am looking to reduce their numbers advantage, and dominate the magic phase.

the shooting phase is moot as I hope to be on top of them before we can get into an exchange of fire.

TIA.

You could try the WarlockBus approach (Dreadlord, Multi-masters, Lv Beasts) but using Cold One Knights.

Use your fast elements (i.e. 4 x 5 DR) to jam up the enemy with double flees and redirection early on, then smash the Bus in wherever your opponent doesn't want it to go ( )

Glorious Victory or Glorious Failure will be yours :P
