Small Tournament 2000p - need help

I've been absent from Warhammer Fantasy for a couple of months. But I've slowly getting back into the hobby again. Which is difficult since most of my friends seemed to have quit.
But in a week or two i will be entering a small tournament. And now I need your help. Passed tournaments I've Always entered using Dark Magic. Which is in my opinion a wonderful lore against most armies. But this time I really want something different.

I've been thinking about using lore of Life in my level 4, but I cannt seem to find a nice army to go with it. for tournament purposes.

So I will ask my esteemed fellow Dark Elves for some advice.

What lore should i use?
What kind of army? Shooty/Melee/Monster heavy
If you have any sample lists so much the better.

There are no real restrictions. Except that cheese army builds are frowned upon.
Maximum points: 2000
Yes...even special characters are allowed...but i personally don't really like them.
