Rules for Armies....

Post by Seraphyn »

I have only been playing the game for the past couple of months so i guess i am new, but was wondering what is GW rules on fully painted mineratures for campains like this? Cause i have been painting my army slowly to have better looking minatures, so do they have to hall be painted?
In my mind I envision a world without hate, malice, war. And then I see us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

No if you play against your friends at home. If you play in any GW evet they must be painted at least 3 different colours to a decent standard and be based properly (with flock and paint not just paint). Thats it. Not highlighted or inked or anything. Just three colour no base coat showing through.

Our local store will allow you to play with unfinished models as long as they see improvements each week. Much fairer IMO :D

Same as DA here in Danvers,MA. Individual shops are a little more forgiving, but the GW shop here is okay as long as you are trying. In campaigns, there is usually a stat penalty for un or partially painted units.

Just three colour no base coat showing through.

Thats annoying! I base mine the colour I will use the most! My DE are based black, and a portion of the finished model IS black :(.
My local store doesn't care weather they are painted or not, nor if you even have the exact models.

Just put another coat of black on. Then, no base shows through.
This may make the black blacker, but i don't know if blacker is a word

Blacker?

Post by Edriasz »

Well, if you have seen This is Spinal Tap. the phrase would "Non more Black." :D

Back to the subject, though. One GW near me requires complete finishing, but the Battle Bunker is a "show progress" shop.

I can't stand gamers who play with unfinished models but I can cope with it, I refuse pointly to play anyone without the correct minitures, as do most of the gamers I know.

I can understand if they are just chosing an army and don't want to commit, but once they have commited then I want finished models. After all I have taken the time to paint my models why shouldn't they do the same

Yes my local store is totally cool about unpainted models as long as you're making progress each week ... totally much more fair.

Mine let you use unpainted stuff unless one of the heads is around to moan. Proxies are allowed too if you ask REALLY nicely before starting the game.

Our store tends to be rather strict about flocking and such but that hasn't been a problem for me in ages now that most of the DE models I buy are simply out of fun for trying a conversion or to simply expand my character choices and almost never out of nessecity to fill in a gap in my battle line.
