Inquisitor warbands

Post by Daemonic aura »

I have started off playing inquisitor for real now, but have been sticking to borrowing my mates models. I want this to change, and i really want to get my own. As these models are mostly £18 a piece, i want to make sure i am absolutely certain that what i am buying are the right ones, and this is where you come in. I haven't been able to come up with a decent idea for a warband, and so i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions? I have only one stipulation: it must NOT include a marine. Those guys are just too unblancing for my tastes, and i want to stay away from them as much as possible.

Cheers, Daemonic Aura

well how much do you liek what ur playing with at the moment? i feel that the only reason to play inqusitor is to make and convert all the characters. just make what you feel you like and will enjoy playing with.
personally i love the acro flagelents. just milling around and then bam, and machine of destruction. awesome. i was thinking of making and nids mutant, where the imperium have toyed with nid DNA on a slave guy...

i've never played the game properly, but got the book and toyed with the idea... GW don't seeem to have it running in stores anymore.. shame realy, its a gd game.

My problem is i have too many ideas. One minute i want a Jack bauer-esque character based on Slick Devlan, the next i want an all girl band, the next an assassin warband. I really can't make up my mind, and seem to like playing with anyone. However, they have to be at least speed 5. Anything lower is just too slow for me. :P

well then create some characters, play with them using ur friends models, and see how you like them. the problem i foudn when i started to get interested, was the speed. i alwas wanted a high speed, but it made my characters unblanced. basically when thinking about making characters armour and speed go had in hand. the more armour the less speed and visa versa. that's the basic was to make it mroe even. in the bk of the book there is a very crude point system. try that out just to get the power roughly right.

i think the eldar ranger is a great model, and i would take him as my leader, with some rouge desperardos, who are being paid to help him complete his objectives...

The concaelv is the best place for Inquisitor, so mcuh info there, and lots of very knowledgable people who can always help.

However there is no way any one can really help you at the moment. Inq is a RPG, and as such you need to invent your own characters, thier back story and make sure that your band leader is some one you can either identify with or enjoy playing with. Personally my inspiration for warbands comes from artwork and old literature. Codex Imperialis has been the main inspiration behind the majority of my warband conepts (I recormend every oen tries to get hold of a copy). Try reading around on the cobnclave, in the Inq book etc... You should also check out the model range, as unless you are a decent converter the models are failry limited and as such you might want to base your idea around a particular model you like the look of. There are also all the articles on the spec games forum, which might help, especially the thorian source book. But yeah, thats about all one can do to help you. The rest is up to you. But like I say artwork is the thing that really inspires me. If you look at the daemonhunters and witchhunters bit on the GW site you can look at all the artwork from their codex's which might psark an idea.

The other thing to do is start with some basic questions, like 20 questions, such as:

1) Imperial or Alien or Chaos?
2) Human or not?
3) Inquisitor or not?
4) Good or evil?
5) Radical or Puritain?
6) Do the end justify the means?

Those sort of things, they can help you build up an idea and even a whole warband!

Hope that helps a bit.

Ras

dear god due, Inquisitor Valkyr must hav taken you ages!!!! hes awesome!! especally those shin pads, and that glave!! you should get all your modeling pics in one place. think about a photo bucket account or somthing. i would love to see other models in ur warband.

but weren't there some extra ranger sprues and things. i'm sure there was a 'mod' for the eldar ranger to swap the rangers weapons round.

But GW have been making alot more models for inquistor, i hadn't relised it had kept going so strong.

He, cheers. All my pics are in one place, on my photobucket. He is the only one so far. I will make the others fairly soon, but I have some commission work first...

The ranger model comes with alternative arms and heads, as do quite a few it seems, but you are still quite limited, often by anoyingly silly poses (Death Cult Assassin)....

yeh i've noticed that. i was looking through the website the other day because i saw the forge world elysian models and thought they look great, and would be an awesome idea for an inquisiter warband. using there grav chuts to arive in the biggining of a campagin or when they get a chance to get bk to there ship. that would be great. i was a bit stuck on what models to use cause theres only 2 imperial guard models and i want all of the band to look different, and i want them to look like the elysian's whihc means alot of work... i would have to custom make the grav chutes, and i think somthing similar with the helmets. but seeing as the chutes are dropped as soon as they land i would just have the chutes on t he base, and the helpmets i would guess are just for the landing so i could get away with one on a a sholder strap or somthing.

I am playing Inquisitor aswell, with some friends. We use normal 40k models tough and convert them to our liking. My warband is scentered arround an Tzeentch corupted puritan with hes bodyguards. Hes bodyguards are also all melee and consists of 4 repenintants. When you are making your warband you should decide what kind of playingstyle you like. If you dont like only melee or only shooty bands get some kind of mix. I do not know what models are in the inquisitor range, but we use what we can get our hands on for henchmen. Because we use normal 40k models I do not have the problem with only having 2differen models in the warband.
