If you're only doing a one-off game then there are actually rules for starting with skills/stat upgrades. They come out of your crown allowance, and can be found at the back of the book.
Punishment leads to Fear. Fear leads to Obedience. Obedience leads to Freedom. Therefore, Punishment leads to Freedom.

"very usefull especialy if you can get some casting values down. just look at at shadow warrior and skaven magic for some awesome spells"
Oh,right. Is druchii magic not as strong?I figured with less models to take care of than WHF,magic should be quite an effective equalizer.

I have the online version of the rules, and they seem to be a bit incomplete.I couldnt find a complete skill/upgrade list.
My opponent is a veteran mordheim player,so Im sure he will fill me in on all the rules.
Anyho, thanx 4 the responses guys, time to kick some butt!

I think that you should first give us some information:
- Is it a one-off game or start of campaign?
- If it is one-off game, how much money do you have for start? 500 gc?
- Which rules are you going to use? Lustria or d.net?
You want to take Druchii against Posessed or undead... Well, you need shooting and magic.
So, get a sorceress and get shooters. During game, keep your distance.

Bogus
Well,I played two Mordheim games yesterday, and only lost because of bad luck!It is a campaign, played with Lustria rules,500 crowns to start.I was doing well,I took a sorceress and shooters which unfortunatley were rather ineffective due to bad luck with the dice.My beastmaster went sick and carved up everything around him, killing a total of three(2 ghouls and a dreg),but BOTH games I failed the rout test when I had the advantage.Sigh! Is there anything that can be done about unlucky dice rolls?Anyway, thanks for the posts!

Against unlucky rolls, everybody is defenceless, but there are some things which can help. I believe you, you vere really unlucky, but often the truth is, that unlucky and lucky rolls are better seen than tactics and strategy mistakes. I myself know, that after a lost battle I am certain I was unlucky and dice beaten, but later I realize minor or greater mistakes which had significant influence on the game.
1) use holy/unholy relic to automaticly take the first Ld test which shoud be the route test, it will help you to stay one turn longer, if you want to.
2) use the law of great numbers. So if you charge anybody, attack him to gain maximum attacks on one target, attack, if possible, with at least 2 models on one. With four blows you should take down most normal models.
3) when shooting and you can chose your target, shoot at the targets easiest to hit and wound. If you stun the target, do not continue shooting on stunned target and shoot on somebody else. If you only knock down the target, do the same unless the knocked down person is superior shooter.
4) Always charge stunned and knocked down model as they are easiest targets to take out.
5) The main goal usually is to take the enemy down under route level and hope luck will betray him sooner than you.
Remember that this are not thoroughly universal rules and much depends on situation. But if you have these in mind, you will do maximum you can.
