Necromunda!

Post by B*tch elf »

Ahhh... Necromunda, what a game!

Persoanlly i love it, just like Man o war and Blood bowl, i love not having to paint hundreds of models just to play the game!!

So... does anyone still play it?

Cheers

I'd love to see a slightly updated ruleset for Necromunda (maybe a bit more generalized to accomodate more races from Warhammer 40K). Small skirmishing games with strong RPG elements are so much more fun than the big battles (especially 40K... boring).

What I especially like about Necromunda are its remarkably cool and diverse models. Lowtech skirmishing bands over Space Marine chapters any time!

Yeah there is an intimacy wiht the models you don;t quite get with an army (that is a new one).

I still think that necromunda would be the best of G.W's game system's to make into a video game. I'd pay through the nose to get my hands on that if it were did right!

I have an Orlock gang - "The Sharks" with all sorts of cyberpunk models from the necro range, including old school eldar, escher...

I'd love to do a joker themed gang, but i haven't figured out how to make a model of the joker.

Anyone else got cool idea's for gangs? whats your gang rating?

@ Cynath, i agree with the intimacy of the game, it made the game special.
@ Cenyu, i'd disagree with other races getting involved... sure, they'd fit in with the game mechanics, but the theme of people living, getting on and dying together was part of the appeal for me. Maybe small things like genestealer cults starting up would be good. However i guess if the narrative is strong for an idea, it'd be cool.

I used a ratskin gang mainly, and their gang rating got quite high, can't quite remember how big, but it had something like 18 models for the gang all skilled up.
I also bought the spyrer models who i thought were a great idea, i never painted them though. However, i unearthed them the other day and i feel like painting them, especially after seeing this:

i feel a predator type colour scheme would look good if done well!!

those are some nice models.

Does Necromuda play like a 40k version of Mordheim, it seems like quite alot of fun, and I was wondering.

Necromundas rules are based on 2nd ed of 40k well the old rules were not played that much with the new set. Its similar to mordheim but with diferences obviously, its my 2nd fave game they've done like stated i like the intimacy that he game has in regards to each mini is unique to an extent and develops character over time. I play with a van saar gang based upon the minis of the ash wastes nomads.

Necromunda was the first miniature game I played, and I still love it. I like the 'start-up phase' the most, where your gang struggles to get creds and good equipment.
And it is true, you get to know your gang as friends, and get different feelings toward each, depending on how they do over a series of games. :D
I played some games against a crowd of beginners during the spring this year, and it was great fun. The only problem is, they all had so much more gaming time than me (younger and lived close together), that their gang rating skyrocketed compared to mine. Still had some fun games, with my elite Van Saar strike team! 8)

Genestealer cults came out around the same time as Ratskins and Scavvies IIRC, but were never updated for the newer rules.

Escher were, and still are, my gang of choice.
