Mordheim Durchii Warband Idea

Post by Trollen »

Hi!
I'm very new to Dark Elves but not new to mordheim.

I want to start DE Warband and I've already bought minis.

Here's my Starting roster:
Noble (Great Weapon, Helmet, Dagger) 100
Sorceress (Staff - not counted as weapon, Dagger) 45
Lordling (Sword, Dagger) 55
Lordling (Sword, Dagger) 55
Beastmaster (Beastlash, Helmet, Shield) 65

2 Shades (Repeater Crossbow, Dagger)
2 Slavebeasts
20GC Left

Next warriors I will hire:
one more Shade
one Witch Elf (Sword, Dagger, Helmet)
one more Slavebeast

Those are minis I've already bought. I could swap minis of lordlings with shades, witch would give me a 2 heroes with shooting weapons and more close combat henchen, witch is better idea. But my first idea was that lordlings are silent assasins with poisoned swords, and according to first rules of Dark Elves Warband Fellblades which were turned into Lordlings couldn't use shooting weapons.

my questions are:
1. why DE don't have throwing knives option?
2. can you use quick shoot with repeater crossbow so you can get 4 shoots in a turn? what else shooting combo can you use with repeater crossbow
3. can you use beastlash with shield?

Commets are welcome.

1. why DE don't have throwing knives option?

You could use them if you get the propper upgrade, but as they don´t have throwing knifes in fantasy, why should they get ´em in Mordheim

2. can you use quick shoot with repeater crossbow so you can get 4 shoots in a turn? what else shooting combo can you use with repeater crossbow

Oh yes, my favourite Druchii Machinegun combo.

3. can you use beastlash with shield?

Of course, why not?

Are you using the Witches as normal warriors or have you another list than I do?

What minis do you use for slavebeasts? I was thinking baout smal velociraptors but no company ever made those. I was using Durhii Warband from mordheimer.com to create this warband. Is this the latest or did I just missed somthing?

Throwing knives are thrown weapons, so they do exist in WHFB, but GW has not taken up the option. That is, there are rules for them in the BRB but as far as I'm aware there is no mention of them in any army book. That's probably fair enough ; there's not much call for throwing knives on a battle field, they're really more of a murder weapon than a fighting weapon. So they are perfect for Mordheim, really.

Horned ones are basicly that, though they might be a bit big. You could also try the Dark Eldar warp beasts or maybe a salamander.
Moding a group of Druchii.net players is much like directing the musical 'Cats' using actual cats. Frustrating, difficult, chaotic but ultimatley satisfying and a great deal of fun.

What bases should I use for this warband. I guess that as for every Elf should go 20mm x 20mm base, but I'm not sure about beasts. As Witch Hunters' Wardogs and those other from Equipment are 20mm x 20mm and I like this idea. But Warhounds of Chaos or Wolves are on 25mm x 50mm. Or maybe should I make 20mm x 40mm bases?

I have answered the numbered question here: http://www.druchii.net/viewtopic.php?t=66938 , so I will just add some more details.

What minis do you use for slavebeasts?

Witchhunter dogs.

I was using Durhii Warband from mordheimer.com to create this warband. Is this the latest or did I just missed somthing?

I see. Yes, you have missed version 1.0 (see the link above).

Where I play, standard 20x20 bases for dogs are OK. We mostly reserve 20x50 bases for horses.

2. can you use quick shoot with repeater crossbow so you can get 4 shoots in a turn? what else shooting combo can you use with repeater crossbow

Oh yes, my favourite Druchii Machinegun combo.

Sorry, but your combo is illegal. QuickShot does not double your number of shots. It just allows you two shots.

Thanks! I have great idea for minis for dogs now. Can't wait for arrival of my troops.
Throwing Knives can be really fun. There's no need of Repeater Xbow Combo now, as I wont use it with my heroes. They will mostly use throwing knives coz now they can :D.
