What new armies can we expect??
Moderator: The Dread Knights
i was under the impression they were slowly making armies for all the ancient races (as in ancient earth not the old world) TK - egyptians brets- french VC- mid europe? ogres - mongols lizardmen . south america (so i'd say that covers the amazonoians someone mentioned) kislev - rusia
so i'd say theres gonna be some asian army next, not nesseceraly human, something like peasent spearmen core choice, samurai elites? or maybe weaponless kung-fu skirmishers? depending on whether they do asia or china/japan
or maybe the arabians
or maybe even a hardkore australian army

I think the first thing they should do is get some more "good guys"--its getting to the point where everybody has "bad guy" armies....It would be refreshing to see a new force of good out there in the War Hammer world to kill
Seriuosly, has anyone given anythought to a Gnomish army? Maybe a heavy (steam powered - alchemey-gadget army??)

We can expect Wood Elves. We can hope for Chaos Dwarfs (or as one rumor had it, "Machines of Chaos"). I think we might actually get CD, since they still turn up in the fluff for the newest army, the Ogre Kingdoms.
After that, I think we can expect a new army. I think OK were a test to see how much interest there would be among Fantasy players, and since the Army Box sold out pdq, I'd say there is a lot of interest there.
Heldrak is correct about the difficulty of fitting a new army into the system. Every army breaks some rules somewhere. After a while, it's hard to find something to change that hasn't been done already.

Competition is the whetsone of talent.

Purportedly, this was one of the reasons for the long delay of the Wood Elf book, while they searched for a way to make them play differently from both their temporary list and the new Beastman army.

All well and good, but I think they have mentioned before that they arn't going to do anymore armies after the wood elves and maybe Machines of Chaos (Chaos Dwarves).
Cathay will be there in the background and we might even see a RoR in a bit but they are too far away and insular to encounter most of the armies and far more importantly there isn't enough room for any more armies in shops, particularly independant retailers who have enough problem stocking the basic plastic sets for the current 14 or so armies (which I think seems to be a requirement if you are going to stock GW products).
I'm not sure how the allied contingents book (new DoW) are going to be done, but it wouldn't suprise me to see them being mail order only like I think Kislev is currently.
If you want new armies you are going to have to look at specialist games, like warmaster, that doesn't have space issues and are already relaesing Araby.
