FAQ Status Update (All armies)

silashand wrote:Just thought you folks might be interested in this courtesy of BF from Direwolf. Looks like we might be getting actual FAQs in the near future after all ;-)...

As many (or may not) know, I have been providing
Alessio Cavatore with questions for GW's Shrine of
Knowledge update project over the past 60 days.

Yesterday, I submitted the lengthy list of 7th editon
main rules questions which were collected over the
month of January on The Warhammer Forum.

Alessio thanked the community for submitting the
questions and provided me with an update on the status
of his efforts on the update project.

Two FAQs for army books have been completed (Wood
Elves / Empire )and we should hopefully be seeing them
by February month end on the SoK website.

In addition Alessio was kind enough to answer the
Salamander / Flaming Attacks questions.

Per Alessio the Salamander 'Spout Flame' attack does
indeed count as Flaming. As the Lizardmen FAQ on the
SoK is in very good shape he doesn't expect to amend
the FAQ, but will make sure that there is a note
placed in the UK GT rulespack to that effect.

The Direwolf Lizardmen FAQ has been updated to reflect
Alessio's answer as the Source. (The answer matches
the same answer we received from Anthony Reynolds
several years ago).

Regards,

BF
Direwolf FAQ Keeper

Cheers, Gary

That is such bullshit, ugh... takes them 3 months to write the FAQ for 2 books? is this a joke?

<--- is getting a bit frustrated with how GW has been well... handling some of the issues that 7th edition brought up

Im sorry for my pessimisim but hell, give me permission and a GW stamp and I'll write em up in no less than a month. All you need to do is go to the various forums, read their FAQ's and maybe start a thread asking what questions people have. Rinse and repeat for all the forums, type up your answers, print and stamp with gw logo, give to WD crew or online.

2 months at the max, no way in hell it takes 2 months to get 2 army books done... and then they post that sounding like we should be happy that they take forever...

Could have been worse. They could have just left us with the "if in doubt use RAW to the best of your abilities"-approach and be done with it. Atleast something is happending now...

But the issue I have is its been "happening" for the last 3 months and still nothing. At the very least give us the 2 finish FAQ's... 3 months work on something that is relativiely simple and we still have nothing

Ya and Alessio months ago said that a FAQ was coming out. Absolutely ridiculous imo

Azure, just as a heads up, rumored word-of-mouth from the game designers holds little water unless you're there to hear it. Even then, it's been proven over and over again that they get things wrong, forget things, or simply do not know. They're people. People, as a general rule, are worthless. Simply because they say something doesn't make it true.

Allessio was quoted stating that he was in the process of completing a FAQ months ago and after that wait we end up with 2 armies done? and neither of them are released? I may be being quite a bit bitter but its a bit annoying...

Azure; Remember that Alessio has more than one thing to do these days. Also, each question needs to be considered and answered in the most correct way so that it does not conflict with anything else GW has written, and he needs to ask the guy(s) who wrote the rule in the first place to find out the intent. It takes time.

Its true but 3 months to get 2 armies done seems like a little to much time. In the end it doesnt really matter what I think so I guess just wait and see.

And note, at least we still know they are doing em eh?

Personally, I'm just grateful they do them at all. I mean, there's nothing that means they have to release offical FAQs - they could just expect everyone to use independantly made ones like Direwolf.

I'm actually on the edge waiting for my questions to be answered personally. I too am grateful they do them at all, but it would be nice if they worked just a bit faster. I have a magic item I want to take that in 6th edition worked GREAT but is now perfectly useless- I want to see how they might handle it.

Bah is all I can say. I don't mean to complain to GW, since they supply us with everything we have as it is, I just want my answers :( until then- no magic heavy Bretonnians for me (what a waste of damsels).

They work as fast as they can. But they have many things going at once. Things of higher priority (believe it or not). A FAQ per week is darn fast IMO. It's just been a helluva lot of things that had to be done before these FAQs. Ease the GW-bashing, please. You don't know the fluff story.

But Nagathi, they announced they were working on FAQ's in march... MARCH... thats nearly a year ago and only 2-3 are done? Silly imo!

GW bashing? Maybe... but GW provides the hammer itself.

GW neglects to keep it's customers base happy, so what do you expect?
Words of praise?

Sorry Gw has only itself to blame..
Only indoor testing was one of the biggest mistakes they made.
The second is not making an effort to correct the damage of above.

They should know the problems by now, and fix them ASAP.
Internet forums enough so they have the potential to recognize where the problems lie within a week after a army/rulebook comes out.

That most of these problems stay unsolved shows to me they don't care enough.

Things of higher priority? Yes probably explaining their shareholders why they are loosing money.. That is probably a full time job..
But there are lots of people workingh there.. So that's no excuse either.

It's time for them to show they really do something..
Start producing FAQ's instead of talking about planning to do so..

A FAQ is by definition a work in progress... :D
