Hi All,
My FLGS usually has 1 doubles tournament a year. I think there is going to be one in February. Last year, my partner and I won and I'd like to do it again. Obviously some new armies have come out in the last year.
How it goes at my FLGS, is you share ONE force requirement roster. However, each race is restricted to 1250 points maximum. But you could, for instance, have one race take up all the Core points, and the other do all the Heroes, or whatever. General counts for both sides, as does BSB.
Last year we did an Ogre/Vampire Counts list.
The list was basically:
Vamp Lord (general) Killy on Hell Steed (fly), Level 3
3x Vargheists
3x Vargheists
Terrorgheist
Terrorgheist
For the flying contingent.
Ogre Bruiser BSB with Rune Maw banner.
17 Ironguts with Dragonhide Banner
3x Single Sabertusks
Ironblaster
For the smashy contingent.
It worked out rather well, though we did get lucky facing the Dwarf/Skaven max cannon list (3xCannons, 3x Grudgethrowers, 2xWarp Lightning Cannons).
Anyway, anyone have any other ideas or even army combinations? Not sure if Dark Elves would be a good army to go half in with or not.

Re: Best Doubles 2500 point combination
Well you could always make a Witch Elf star with a White Lion star.
But the white lion star quickly gets very expensive.
I think dark elves are an amazing army to go half with because we have so strong core units.

That's a good point actually. Part of the reason we paired Ogres with Vamps. Vamps have pretty terrible core overall, so slotting Ogres in there went quite nicely.

Just fill core with witch elves and take a cauldron.
Maybe some dark riders.

Hmm... just came up with this list.
Daemon Prince of Nurgle (all the typical goodies outside of flaming breath)
Death Hag with Cauldron (BSB)
30 Witch Elves, Full Command, Razor Standard
5 Dark Riders, Musician, Shield, Crossbows

Chimera with Regenerating Flesh
Chimera with Regenerating Flesh
Chimera with Regenerating Flesh
Kharibdyss

Could be nasty
